I saw them on SNL last year.  Loved it but never picked up the CD.  I really need to get into them.

I'm surprised a band this trendy managed to fly under the radar here for so long.

The first CD and the EP are both good.  I am hoping the new one is consistently really good all of the way through.  The first album is very top-heavy.  The first half is great, but the second half isn't, except for "Your Protector," which is probably my favorite song of theirs so far.

Anyone who saw my top 50 thread saw how much I liked their first album. Their new song was great too, though a bit odd from first listen. Not anywhere near as accessible as anything on the first album.

I also really like the new album. I think I like the debut more, though.

I thought the new album was pretty good when my dad played it in the car, however I'm not sure that I'm completely sold on Fleet Foxes yet.
I think they're good, but they haven't 'wow-ed' me in the same way that many other indie bands has.
But as I said, new album is pretty good.  :tup

iTunes genre classifications are goofy as hell.  I usually don't pay attention to them, but they show up on my iPod page when I am updating it, and I noticed that the first album and Sun Giant EP are listed as Alternative & Punk :lol, and the new album is listed as Indie :lol.  On what planet is Fleet Foxes any of those?  They are folk rock, plain and simple.  Not that it really matters, but I just found that funny.

Really great band! Love both LPs, but I haven't herad that first Ep which I hear is great. This new album is a little more adventurous and eclectic, and I still haven't decided if I like that as much yet.

The new album is way too awesome.  Every single song is a gem.  This could be my album of the year, which is really saying something considering what a great year it has been for music! :tup :tup

Wow, that's a nice week of shows, for sure.  I love this new album.  Depending on mood, it and Bon Iver jockey back and forth for my indie folk album of the year.

Yep, the new album is terrific.  Definitely an Album of the Year contender.

And once again, TM holding back tickets till the last minute works to my advantage.  The concert was sold out a while back, but as usual, they wait till the week before to release some tickets, and some were available at the time I just happened to look today.  My brother and I were gonna go down there that night and try to buy some from people on the street beforehand anyway, but this works out better.

Damn good show last night!  Their harmonies are just as good live as they are on record.  Their overall sound could have been a tad better.  It wasn't bad, but when they rocked out, it was a bit noisy and you could barely hear the keyboards for much of the show.  But despite this, still a very enjoyable show.  Your Protector melted our faces off. :hat :hat :hat

Set list:

1. The Cascades
2. Grown Ocean
3. Drops in the River
4. Battery Kinzie
5. Bedouin Dress
6. Sim Sala Bim
7. Mykonos
8. Your Protector
9. Tiger Mountain Peasant Song
10. White Winter Hymnal
11. Ragged Wood
12. Lorelai
13. Montezuma
14. He Doesn't Know Why
15. The Shrine/An Argument
16. Blue Spotted Tail
17. Blue Ridge Mountains

18. Oliver James
19. Helplessness Blues

So anyway, if this isn't my Album of the Year, I'll be very surprised. I'm yet to hear another album that rivals it.

I don't really "get" Blue Spotted Tail at this point though. It's okay, but the rest of the album in comparison is like ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh sweet Jesus.

Got to see the band perform at a local music festival three years ago just as their first album was gaining steam.  It was fantastic to hear their vocal harmonies in a live setting.  I had to book it and ride a bus that took me across town after their set to catch Nine Inch Nails on their tour for The Slip.  So in my own world, Fleet Foxes opened for NIN.  ;D

The EP and the first album are still one of the best things I've ever heard and is great to listen to on a cold and rainy day.
