Have others around heard of this book? The author is Jeff Wagner, who used to write for Metal Maniacs and now is involved with The End Records.

And the radio show, Used Bin Radio, is a cool music talk show, mostly discussing progressive rock and metal, every Tuesday evening 7pm-10pm (Pacific Time).

So Jeff's going to be a guest on their show tomorrow evening, February 1st. It should be cool to see what he has to say, and all the research he did in writing this new book.

I am wondering if Unexpect is mentioned somewhere in this book.

yes, they are.

check this out, it's the Index for Mean Deviation, made public by the publisher. Gives a great view into the book's guts (uh, look at all the D.T. citations...):

"Panic Attack" is still the best D.T. song since the mid '90s!  :)

Well, I'll have the book next week probably.  I'd write a review, but people don't seem to be too interested in this thread or my "Global Metal" review  :\

I got the book about a month ago but just started reading through it recently.  It's very cool so far, even the chapters focused on bands I'm not into, like Voivod and Celtic Frost.

I don't know if it's worth it for me to get it... There is a lot of great bands in there but it's only around "prog metal". I'll probably get it only for the few pages about Unexpect! :lol
