Blackfield
« on: January 11, 2011, 01:24:01 AM »
I know there's been some discussion in the PT topic, but I think Blackfield deserves their own topic. For the upcoming record especially, as well as their previous material.

news about the 3rd lp.

If you use Twitter you can now follow Blackfield. There should be lots of announcements regarding the forthcoming album and tour dates soon. New official website will launch later this month.

Something to keep an eye on.

Blackfield surely deserves an own thread.
Huge fan, when in the right mood i consider Blackfield to be even better then PT, the emotional lyrics are really moving.
I'm not one of those "Aviv sucks"-people, i like him just as much as SW in the case of Blackfield, and the whole dynamic between them is what makes the music so good.

Think we already had a thread, but you can never have enough Blackfield threads. I agree with Zantera, there are a lot of times when I prefer Blackfield over Porcupine Tree. It's something I have to be in the right mood for though. (But if I am, I can listen to both albums on repeat and not get bored in the slightest).

Cannot wait for Blackfield III.

Cover looks a lot more 'positive' than the other two.

To me it's like a mix of We're Here Because We're Here, and some No-Man covers.  :-*

Definitely looking forward to this.  Loved the first two albums.

That cover looked like something Stevetheater or Hugh Syme could've cooked up.  No offense to either because its a pretty good cover, but not what I'd expect a blackfield cover to look like at all.  If covers are reflective of the music inside, then this should be a fairly positive album.

So judging by the album-title, is this a concept-album about cloning?

I would be surprised, Blackfield doesn't seem to be a concept album kind of band.

Which is probably why Zantera's post contained a nearly lethal dose of sarcasm.

Anyway, the album cover and title have me super psyched, color me excited.

Hmmm....I like their other cover arts better.

I mean, there's a guy...looking out a window. And he's just, like, some guy. Not even an interesting guy, just one of those people you pass in the hallway and never learn their name because they're just uninteresting.

He better be just about to jump out of that window.

The point of having a good cover-art is that it's supposed to be random.
Steven Wilson has learned this, Insurgentes is the proof.  ;)

Yeah, I liked the other covers better as well.  As I said, the cover looks like standard Hugh Syme stuff, but considering how much Steven loves album art, I'm sure there's a reason its like this.

I don't really know how to describe what I think is wrong with that album cover.

Maybe...fake looking? I'm not sure.

There's just something about it.

Hey sky!  I found the thread! :lol  I think the picture looks like the style of Pineapple Thief's last CD.

This is where I'm getting the Hugh Syme thing from.  Mostly from his recent DT stuff.  The person there looks uncannily fake, but there's nothing wrong with him physically, like the kid on BC&SL

This.

And judging the artwork before you even get to hear the music that goes along with it is kind of dumb.
