So we got Darkes talking Trains, uh, I guess I'll throw in a Fear Of A Blank Planet didn't age well...Xbox lyrics, what else...uh, no, PC, The Incident isn't a piece of shit and, uh, I think that's it?

Good thread guys.

There's no reason to make a new thread.

We make new threads for far less pages.

Unless a mod locks a thread a new version really isn't needed.

Mods don't usually lock threads unless someone makes a new version after exceeding a ton of pages.

Yeah the other one was pretty big, I don't see a problem with making a new one. It far exceeded "prog maximum".

I was listening to the Insurgentes 5.1 mix today. Absolutely mind blowing.

Do you guys use a sound system or surround headsets for the 5.1 mixes? I watched Anesthetize on DVD with my surround setup and I can honestly say it wasn't that much better. Although, the problem might have been that I was too interested in the visual to notice a difference in the sound. Thoughts?

I´ve been listening to Signify and Fear of a Blank Planet a lot lately. I have to say that maybe those are my favorite PT albums.

There isn't too huge of a difference in the live stuff, but if you get any of the studio DVD-A albums, you will notice a huge improvement.

edit - didn't even answer the question... i'm using a sound system.

Each member of Porcupine Tree that isn't Steven Wilson is absolutely fantastic and they don't get anywhere near the praise they deserve.

I'll also throw in that anything PC and Darkes say is wrong and that LBS is the best album ever.  Carry on.

Fact.

As amazing as Steven is, PT wouldn't be the same without everyone else.

Controversial opinion time?  If Gavin Harrison left the band tomorrow, I'd be just fine.  They could easily find another drummer.  Amazing as he is, Gavin is probably the most "replaceable" member.  Richard and Colin are too essential.  It wouldn't be PT without them.

NOTE: I don't want Gavin to leave.

Agree about Gavin, simply because they wrote amazing albums before he came along... but I wouldn't be too happy if he got kicked out.  :P

Not sure. I know ex-Wise Heads is "world music", but I dunno if his solo album is like that as well.

There's a bunch of music going on, electronic in nature, with a bunch of samples. It changes a lot.

Alright, hold on, I'm going to try to word this better.

This music is like...

Seinfeld meets Serena Williams smoke'um peace pipe in outer space while listening to the radio and playing Eve Online, and the megalodon is swimming through the cosmos slowly and finds out that some stars are actually just lightbulbs. Also, Mark Twain is drawing tits in a notebook just before he falls asleep.

I'm not sure if that's supposed to mean it's good or it's bad.

That was beautiful. Thank you! I know exactly what to expect when I go to listen to the album now.

Out of curiosity, I checked out another project with Colin Edwin called Random Noise Generator.

It has to be the shittiest band I have ever heard.

No way. He's just as essential as everyone else. Chris Maitland fit very well on pre-IA albums, but now PT without Gavin wouldn't really be PT. Especially the genius of Fear of a Blank Planet is in a huge part achieved by him.

I can't even say who would be the most replaceable without hearing what the band would sound like without that member. I'd almost say Colin.

If Barbieri or Colin left, I would miss their random smiles onstage..

Just thought I'd bring it up that I am listening to Nine Cats. I really enjoy this song. Does anyone else have an opinion on this song?

It's a favorite of mine from OTSOL, and the acoustic version on Insignificance is the best part about it.

New thread, stupid question:

How is In Absentia supposed to be pronounced? I've been pronouncing it "ab-sehn-tee-ah" in my head all this time. But I had a random thought today that it could also be pronounced "uhb-sehn-shee-uh", which sounds about 10x more cool.
