As many others have pointed out, it sounds like a song that would work a lot better within the context of the record. By itself, it didn't sound like anything super special, though the heavier parts sounded pretty sick.

I like it. It's not the best Periphery track ever, but this is the first single, those rarely interest me much.

With "The Scourge" released off Alpha; I've heard the band will be releasing a tune from Omega on Dec.3...

Just after one day, The Scourge has 'aged' extremely well to be honest. Very cool track.

With "The Scourge" released off Alpha; I've heard the band will be releasing a tune from Omega on Dec.3...

That would be great.

They really could have extended that ending another 15-30 seconds.

Well the version we have heard is only 4:11 long, and the track on the actual album is 5:36.

Pretty much the same here. I'm still excited and will give the albums some spins, but neither of the songs have really stood out. Kinda just feels like "more of the same".

Really? This new one is so awesome it's rediculous. If the rest of the albums keeps to the level of what I've heard so far, this will end up being my favorite Periphery album(s).

I should add that I only listened to both songs once, because while curious, I want to go in as fresh as possible into the album. So it could totally turn out to be one of those situations where the song might sound okay at first, but after more listens, or in the context of the album, it makes much more sense.

Nah, the new song is amazing. Heavy as can be, and a great melody repeated twice. Better than most of P2 in my opinion.

Yeah it's pretty good, though it's my least favorite out the three we've heard.

Definitely my least favorite of the three we've heard. Spencer's really starting to overdo it with his cleans. They sounded like some meh post-hardcore stuff my roommates might listen to, and the music sounded really plain for a Periphery song.

Yeah, I'd be lying if I didn't say these singles have me a bit worried about the quality of the new album. They sound really, really generic for Periphery's standards.

^ If '22 Faces' was all we had I'd reluctantly maybe agree with you. But since we have 'The Scourge', which is great, and 'The Bad Thing', which is freakin' awesome, I'll have to absolutely disagree.

Checked back to the pre-PII days of this thread. There were definetely more hype here about that album back then, which is a bit sad.

'Graveless' from the Omega-album was released a few days ago. I didn't anything about on their facebook though, so didn't find out about it until today. Cool track, not as good as 'The Bad Thing' or 'The Scourge', but right now I'd say that it's better than '22 Faces'.

Never really Periphery much to begin with, but I gave the new songs an honest listen and I think they are even worse than their earlier material.

Have A Blast is still an awesome song.

Another song. The track 'Alpha' from the first album. I liked this one more than the last one. A strong chorus, and a really cool second part of the song. So far I'd rank the released ones like this:

1 - The Bad Thing
2 - The Scourge
3 - Alpha
4 - 22 Faces
5 - Graveless

If they keep this up, they will have released both albums as individual songs before the album release date.

I couldn't get into their first album, but I think Periphery II is effin' gold.  Such a great listen, top to bottom.  I had fun with their EPs, but the Juggernaut tracks release thus far haven't really done much for me.  I enjoy bits and pieces, but I'm reserving judgment until I can give the album a listen.

I tend to go back and forward, but I might prefer their debut. They are very close, and both have pros and cons. Periphery II sees Spencer deliver much stronger vocals than on the debut, but the debut feels kinda more consistent. With Periphery II I kinda lose interest for the last 10-15 minutes, whereas with Periphery I am there all the way. The songwriting is probably better overall on P2, but P1 has Racecar.. oh dilemmas.

I'm a very casual fan, but I'm not feeling the new stuff at all for some reason. I think Racecar has their most badass riffs, and even vocally Spencer is great on it. Periphery II is pretty good song writing wise, it really improved on the debut overall IMO. Clear was pretty interesting, I especially like 'Feed the Ground', and just the overall increase of NIN-ish attitudes and electronics on that EP.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Periphery II is definitely my favorite release by them, but the debut and Clear are both fantastic. Hopefully Juggernaut lives up to the band's standard of quality, but like many others, I'm not a big fan of a lot of the songs they've released from it so far. Alpha was pretty good, though.

They played in Tampa last night, went to the show. Spencer said he had Strep Throat so their set was a little bit short for being headliners but they put on a great show. Gotta say though, Thank You Scientist completely stole the show. I've been a fan for awhile and they played honest to god one of the best sets I'll ever see.

Kinda warming up to the new songs, but it's still pretty unlikely Juggernaut will match P2 for me. But either way I'm definitely more excited for it.

Went to the show last night in Ft. Lauderdale. Spencer still had strep throat so in addition to cutting Scarlet and Ragnarok from the set, they did Ji, Alpha, and Graveless instrumental. It was really cool that Spencer even attempted to perform in that condition. They fucking KILLED it.

Thank You Scientist had van trouble so didnt get to see them. But Nothing More did the coolest bass solo i've ever seen.

I'm LOVING everything off Juggernaut so far. Can't wait for these albums.
