I'm really liking the new song!  :tup  It's not ground breaking, but the Foo Fighters somehow manage to retain their sound every time yet keep it fresh. Very cool tune :)

Pretty cool song and fun video.

I'm not saying " boo hoo my fave rock band have gone soft " - but Foo Fighters doing "heavy" nowadays is nowhere near as blustery as on their 2nd album.

Apart from maybe " All My Life " and some of Wasting Light - they've never matched anything from Colour & The Shape in terms of heaviness.

I'm not after an album of White Limo and Weenie Beenie. But one or two songs like Wind Up would be nice again.

I'm warming to the new song. It didn't immediately hook me the way something like Bridges Burning did, but it's pretty good.

They definitely haven't fallen into any of the pits that a lot of bands do these days, which I'm always worried about whenever I hear a new song from a band I like these days. Luckily, the Foo Fighters are still staying true to themselves. If anything, by the end of the track, it almost feels like a statement that they're going to continue to do just that.

It'll be interesting to see what the rest of the album is like. Parts of this song felt like a departure from their style, while still feeling like them, so I'm excited.

New song is solid, but given their samey style, my interest level isn't that high with them.  Gimme The Colour and the Shape, Wasted Light and Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and that is more than enough for me to get my FF fix.

So we have 'Walk' and now we have 'Run'.

Is there gonna be a 'Jog' at some point to complete a trilogy?

If their new album isn't recorded at 606 then something is wrong.

They made such a fuss about the Sound City Neve Board - buying it - installing it in 606 - making a Sound City album with it and even a movie...

But since then not one Foo Fighters album has been made with it.

Wasting Light was in Dave's house and Sonic Highways was in 8 different studios around the US.

Even St. Cecilia was only partially tracked in 606.

I'd be very interested if they ever release 'Prance' or 'Frolick'

Surprised no one's talking about the Glasto set. I watched the start of it, and it was just shot after shot after shot of unbridled raw primeval energy that only rock can provide.

I watched it, and it was excellent. I'm not the biggest FF fan, but the band was very tight, and seemed to be loving every minute of it. Great set list, and the Queen cover was a fun bonus.

Dave had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. I can't believe that guy shows no sign of nerves whatsoever. The "10 more songs" thing was very funny, and was even better when the crowd started counting down, "9 more songs..".  :lol

Another highlight was Dave saying, mid-song, "I see a naked guy!". Cue the BBC camera panning round to the naked guy sitting on his friend's shoulders, and quickly cutting away..

Compare that to Ed Sheeran headlining on the Sunday night. I changed the channel after 10 minutes.

Not many bands could pull that off without it being totally awful, but the Foo Fighters managed to do it.  I don't listen to them that much anymore, but David Grohl is such a rock star.  :metal

Just discovered Dave's cover of the 80's song Kids In America.  Unfortunately it's demo quality and the vocals aren't the best.  That could be a great song if better produced.

I saw the boys at Wrigley Field last week and, just....wow. Haven’t seen em in 10 years and haven’t even listened to them in quite a while either, but this concert reaffirmed why they’re so great to me and I’ve been running through their catalog on loop ever since. Also CaG has grown on me a shit ton after not liking it at all, so that’s another plus!

So your top 3 Foo records are?

For me:

1. The Colour And The Shape
2. Wasting Light
3. There Is Nothing Left To Lose

Get rid of There Is Nothing Left to Lose and put in Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and that is my list.

I haven't heard all their albums but I think The Colour and the Shape is up there (probably their most classic?) but I would also give a shout to Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace as maybe my personal favorite. That album just has some really nice tunes on it. "Summer's End" is a bit of a personal favorite.

I find 99% of their material to be firmly in the "meh" category, but Have It All is a great song.

ALRIGHT YOU RANKERS

1. The Colour And The Shape
2. Foo Fighters
3. Wasting Light

- St. Cecilia -

4. Echoes, Silence, Patience, Grace
5. There Is Nothing Left To Lose
6. In Your Honour

7. Sonic Highways
8. One By One
9. Concrete And Gold.

Not only is Concrete and Gold their worst album BY A MILE. It's also one of the worst rock albums i've ever heard. I genuinely think it's unlistenable and much worse than St . Anger.

I was SO disappointed. Especially since RUN ( funny since the main riff was like Pantera's Walk played faster ) - was such a great single.

Terrible terrible album.

Billie Joe Armstrong's version is great.
