Just heard it on the ride home and thought it was pretty great. Nothing hard hitting, but a nice change of pace nonetheless.

Well, after a couple of listens, it's pretty good.  I think I like it better than Rope, if this is a 1st single.  They opted to not do a standard song structure and I think it worked out all right.  It was building up pretty well to that climax at the end I think.

I find the guitars in the "Dio" riff sound very sterile and processed. They don't have the balls that they should have. Overall a pretty Meh song, and I'm a long-time fan. Hopefully the album is better.

Hmm I'm not floored by the song (Something From Nothing) but I'm sure it will grow on me.

Haven't heard the new tracks yet but for any Australian fans Sonic Highway will be shown on Saturdays at 4.30pm on GO! (Free to air channel) and repeated again on Channel 9 Wednesday at Midnight....That will teach me not to read to Sat. paper until Sun. night!

I hope the documentary comes out on DVD along with the album for those of us who can't get to see it...

It would kinda make no sense to release the music without the film about making it. . .

But we'll see.

It was fun watching the first episode.  Dave is making a name for himself as a Roc Doc director for sure.

The next song is out.  The Feast and the Famine.  A bit more energetic than the other song.

Although some will complain it sounds cut and paste Foo, I MUCH prefer this song to "Something From Nothing" so far. Not that I disliked SFN, it still just feels so disjointed to me. Haven't watched any of the series at this point, but am definitely interested and listening to the music as it goes.

I didn't hear a big similarity between The Feast and The Famine and White Limo like someone says on youtube, nor with Disenchanted Lullaby..

The songs keep rolling.  This one released in Nashville.  I believe Zac Brown does some back-up vocals.  I like it.  Very laid-back and, probably, the bridge is the best out of the three so far.

I'm a relatively new convert to Foo Fighters (I have a buddy who is a die-hard fan who has preached them to me for years), but I've always been familiar with them, and I have a lot of respect for Dave Grohl.

I watched the first episode of Sonic Highways on HBO, and I loved the song Something From Nothing.

Also, the piece on 60 Minutes last week was really good as well.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I've watched two episodes of Sonic Highways, but I'm not that impressed. It's been way too much focus on punk rock for my taste (a genre I don't like). Hopefully the other episodes will be better.

^^ I highly the next episode is going to be about Punk Rock since it's going to be in Nashville, and the song that they created is so laid back.

I saw the Nashville episode.  It was fun, and no punk in sight lol.

I also really liked that song "Congregation" and I'm going to try to talk to our Music Minister at church about our band doing it.  Not sure if it will work lol

Yeah, best episode yet (despite the country music :lol ). And Congregation is the best song they've released so far from the album.

When is this going to leak? This must be a record in modern music for a band of that stature!

I don't really think it's ruined it at all, if anything made it better or at least more accessible.(coming from somebody who still prefers to buy vinyl)

While I don't want to open this can of worms, I agree. It is especially good for smaller artists, ie. Devin Townsend.

It just means that every Tom Dick & Harry can release their album on line and there is so much over saturation it's almost impossible to stand out.

I like that, sure you might have to sift through more, but there's now so much more out there that didn't get unjustly axed by a label with over controlling hands

The songs keep piling up.  I don't mind it.  I'm still buying that album at Best Buy on Monday?.  This one was recorded in Austin.  Reminds me of something from There's Nothing Left to Lose.

Hmm they have now released four songs even before the album is out, that's half the album. Don't know how I feel about that.

The songs are great though :tup

I think Billie would agree they aren't punk. And it's perfectly ok to like a band despite it's genre ?

For example : I don't like any other "prog" bands apart from DT...

It's ok to like whatever you want to like. I mean, I find it weird enough to say that you "hate" an entire genre of music in the first place, but when you then really like a band within that genre it doesn't really make sense to me.

And when I say "you", I mean a lot of people, not just you.
