The Björk Thread
« on: November 29, 2010, 06:34:20 PM »
There are by now enough fans, either converted by myself or otherwise, to warrant a thread for the greatest artist to grace this plane of existence.

I guess we should start with an album ranking just to get it out of the way.

These are all in VERY strict order;

1. Debut
1. Post
1. Homogenic
1. Vespertine
1. Medúlla
1. Volta

Homogenic is by far the best them.

Out of the albums I've listened to I'd have to rank them:

1. Homogenic

2. Debut
3. Post

4. Vespertne

5. Selmasongs
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

I think Debut might be my favourite, but Homogenic and Vespertine are both very interesting, but I haven't heard her other albums yet. Her voice is memorizing  :azn:
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

I like Debut more. But I haven't checked all of them out yet -working on that atm. She doesn't have the best voice imo, but I definitely like the style she sings with/etc.  :tup

I would recommend Debut, but all the nubs will probably go with Homogenic.

The first song I heard by her was Human Behavior, and that got me hooked. For the longest time Debut was the only album I listened to before I got Post and feel even deeper in love.

give her some time
give her some space

I don't know how to go about this, but if someone put a gun to my head and demanded that I pick favorites from her songs, it might look like this;

Anchor Song
Harm of Will (and Harmony Korine's lyrics...oh my)
Headphones
Pagan Poetry
My Juvenile
Mouth's Cradle
Triumph of a Heart

She doesn't have the best voice imo

get t' fuck, pal

Her voice is good, but it's not AMAZING to me.

does not computer

I just looked in the liner notes

there's a Bjorn on the album somewhere, so i can kind of understand the confusion, but no Björk.

Bjork + Devin Townsend = ???

Anyways, my favorite songs would probably be Joga (DAT CHORUS) and Alarm Call.

Terrible voice but I like her themes, the persona is unique.

I'm really mixed on Bjork. I have Debut and Post, and I don't particularly love either as an album, just the cream of the crop of the songs (though Debut comes much closer to being a great overall album than Post does) which, considering those are the two albums everyone seems to rate through the roof after Homogenic, can only leave me wondering whether I'm going to enjoy the albums after Homogenic at all.

YES

That's the first of her songs I heard. After I got Homogenic and listened to that version I just couldn't believe how much shittier that album version really is.

They are all fantastic.  :tup

What is her style, oh most excellent Christopher?

It's largely electronic music, with her vocals being the focal point of the music for the most part.

I should probably add some info on what Björk is doing now for those who don't know. I can't find the article for it, which was posted several months ago.

Anyway, she's working on a new album and thinks it should be out sometime in 2011 or 2012. She doesn't really like to talk about projects while she's still working on them, so who knows.

This seems like an awfully long stretch for her to put between albums, though.

Yeah, if she's been working on it for months and it will still only be released in 2011 or 2012 she's taking he time.

I mean, the Volta tour ended in 2009. I know she's been very politically active about Iceland's nature preservation concerns and stuff, but I NEED THE BYURK
