OK, has anyone here played Metroid: Other M? I ordered it on amazon a week ago for 25 bucks, and its the first wii game I've legally bought in 2 years.  :lol Is it any good?
It's okay. I was kinda disappointed by it. It's fun, but nowhere near the Prime games.

A Prime game never got my attention either.

Definitely MP1 is one of the best games ever.  So beautiful, too.  I got really into that game.

MP2 felt a bit gimmicky with the light/dark theme.  I feel like Nintendo has overdone that theme way too many times.  ALttP comes to mind.

I never played MP3 since I never got a Wii :(

OK, so I'm currently playing through Metroid Other M. I have mixed feelings on it... its fun, but I think it is a poorly crafted game at the same time.

SPOILERS
I'm fighting Ridley right now, how far through the game am I?

EDIT - OK, just got past that part... story is getting good now

Okay. About 1.5 years ago I found a DS lite in my car with pokemon platinum in it. I beat it and didn't turn the thing on in months and had no desire to buy other games. I pawned it for 50 bucks. Well, I decided I want a DS again, mainly for pokemon black/white. So here is my conundrum. I will not be playing this in public. Do I want that DS XL or should I wait for the 3DS?

I think I stopped playing exactly there. I was a tad disappointed by the game (although I plan to finish it sometime). If you haven't yet, follow the lead of the above poster and get Metroid Prime 3, it's amazing.

I've already played all the other Metroid games. I got to the final boss in Metroid: Other M and I just gave up. Its too hard... the controls are so clunky. You have to constantly move and you also need to use missiles, except the controls to switch to missile are so pathetic it takes like 3 minutes to shoot one.

That and I can't beat the last level in Goldeneye... I'm just really slow at shooters like that.  :lol

Other M was a good experiment, but it didn't really work out. I enjoyed the bit I played though, but it was a tad disappointing.
The final boss of Goldeneye was quite hard. It's a really fun game though, I enjoyed it a lot. Sometime I want to replay it but on classic mode (health packs instead of regen and stuff like that).

I also started Pikmin (2) yesterday, it's a fantastic game. Really original and a lot of fun.

Huge fan of MP1 and 2, will play 3 once I get through Resident Evil 4, which I have really been enjoying, and doing better at than I usually do in RE games. Haven't had much interest in Other M, but my brother-in-law has it, so I'm sure I'll borrow it once he gets through it.

On the satellite? That level is a bloodbath. Luckily it's not too long, cause it hurts the eyes after a while. Like you walked in to a Michael Bay movie.

I haven't played Pikmin 2 yet, I only got like halfway through the first one :-p

RE4 is amazing. I didn't really expect to enjoy it but it's one of my favorite games now. I guess you are playing the Wii version? While the cutscene bits were annoying, the aiming and stuff worked really well with the Wiimote and I can't see myself playing it with a normal controller now.

I hated Pikmin.

Advance Wars was great.  Took me two weeks to S-rank the final Eagle match on hard mode.

Just beat Metroid: Other M.  :tup

I gotta say I think the game's reception would be a lot better if it wasn't a Metroid title.

DSiXL is lovely...the 3DS has already seen advisories from Nintendo for children under six, and doesn't work in bright rooms with lots of sun..yadda yadda.

Pokemon Black looked awesome on the DSiXL. And no doubt Nintendo will up the ante on the flash carts with a new OS on the DS.
Stick with what works.

I haven't decided if I'm gonna get the 3DS or not. Honestly, the only reason I really want one at the moment is for 3D OOT. Other than that, I wouldn't really mind waiting until it goes way down in price.

But afadfadsfae I DON'T KNOW Zelda is just so amazing how can I turn it down?

As amazing as the 3DS looks (speaking as someone who literally played my original brick Gameboy to death and is still amazed Nintendo is about to put out a handheld this powerful :eek ) and great as the third-party support is already shaping up to be, the price point is looking way to high for me, especially when I'm still getting good mileage from the cuurent ones. I can wait a couple years for the model update with a longer battery life and (hopefully) lower price.

Thats what I was thinking. I forgot the exact price, but I do remember it being ATLEAST $200 (although I think it was more in the ballpark of 250-300 if I recall correctly). And since Nintendo is famous for putting out a new model of their handheld systems every 2 years, it would seem to make sense to just wait awhile.

And I remember the original Gameboy... I still have mine in my closet, even though the glue that held the face plate disintegrated and the battery cover is missing.  :lol The jump from Gameboy/gameboy pocket to gameboy color was HUGE, and I still remember playing Pokemon in color for the first time, trying to figure out what some of the sprites were supposed to be.  :lol

Actually, I owned almost every Gameboy except for the micro. I never owned a DS until this summer, and I only bought one because they had a cheap used first-gen DS at my local game stop.

What a waste. I just found out about this game and thought "hey, I might want to get that!" Then I saw that it doesn't include tennis or golf. Now I don't want it.

I officially now...just now..at age 36 "get" online gaming.

I played Golden Eye Wii online last night.
Oh my....I died in some SPECTACULAR ways...LOL..and had a blast doing it.
I got some good kills in too. Im your go slow, find a sniper spot kinda a guy....and you just can't win that way. But I enjoyed myself immensely. I had a couple levels where there were great elevated snipers nest positions and you could see the good players getting pissed off with me being up there.....they got me eventually.
