We had a bit of snow here at the end of October, and once again, it's creeping down the mountains. Won't be long...
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

Snow, what is this snow you speak of?

Where do you live?

If you want to see snow, you're welcome here to Scandinavia.

Or go to Canada.  They have snow year round as well.  Why do you think they produce so many hockey players - they practice year round.

Used to see boatloads of snow when I lived in North Dakota.  I see entirely too much of it in PA now.  I hate snow with every fiber of my being.

Well, last year's winter in the UK was something extraordinary anyway, so I don't think that it will happen this year in the same extent, to be honest.

Who could've guessed there was going to be minus degrees in the UK? Poor buildings, everything about britain was epic fail last year. Even here in sweden where we are USED TO SNOW there was an even bigger fail. I've heard this years winter in Europe is going to be even colder cuz of the weakening of the gulf stream, partly because of you Brits and your British Petroleum, and as funny as it is the Swedish Chairman of British Petroleum... :lol

Getting our first snowblower was like getting my forst car as a teenager.  As first the wife was taking pictures of me using it and the big smile on my face, full of pride.  Now I hate every second snow blowing and 45 minutes later, when I finnish I curse for an hour.

This has happened twice in the last 3 years to me.  It sucks.

The annoyances:enjoyment of snow ratio can be pretty high. Largely depends on 1) how your local area handles the roads (which Seattle doesn't do for shit) and 2) how much you have to be on the road, or traveling in general, at the time. 2 years ago I was flying to Denver and got stuck in Portland, where I had a layover, for 4 days. Not PDX's fault, but that was a shit holiday experience.

I take the bus to work, so if the buses ain't running, I am not going anywhere, since, if a bus can't handle the roads, my car sure as shit won't be able to.

If the circumstances permit, however, snow can be a glorious thing. Snowshoeing, sledding, snowmen... it just feels awesome walking outside the morning after a nice snowfall, how quiet everything is, how fresh the air smells.

As I was saying.... left work at 400pm yesterday, got on the bus, got home at 1130pm. Calculated we averaged 2.7mph the whole way, so theoretically could have walked the ~18 miles and gotten home sooner. Found out co-worker got home after midnight.

So yeah, fuck you, snow. But you are giving me a free day off work today, so we'll call this one a push.

We had our first real snowfall in Halifax last night. As such, setrataeso, Space Invader, and I rounded up a bunch of friends and went to Citadel Hill (it's hard to get the right perspective in that shot, but it's basically a giant hill in the middle of Halifax [which, I might add, is also a hill]) to go tobogganing.

Using a carpet sled we bought last year (like this, but crappier), a slightly warped disc sled we found on the road last month (which my buddy spraypainted as used as a Ninja Turtle shell for Halloween), and our trusty mini-fridge door that we found in a dumpster last year, we had a blast! The highlight of the night was the eight-person orgy train we successfully managed to navigate down the hill on the three toboggans.

As I expected, it rained all day today so the snow all melted, but it was an awesome night nevertheless.

I'm going to be depressed if we don't have a white Christmas here.  It snowed earlier in the month, but it's completely gone, and there's only a 40% chance for it to snow on Friday.
