SOOO glad to be able to park in a garage for this storm. Living in Queens for the previous nine years, and only having on-street parking suck-diddly-ucked. What was worse than digging out the car itself was trying to deal with the piles from the plow that had basically frozen solid.

Third shovel complete, snow is piling up nicely along the sides of the sidewalk and driveway. My brother's friends came over in thier huge chevy denali to make it through the snow and then to also consume the rest of the driveway so that means not much shoveling left to do.

Apparently the flooding is really bad nearby and a lot of houses lost power, but nothing has impacted me yet. It's only expected to get worse as the full moon tide peaks at 7:30pm (in about an hour). I'll probably be joining the boozing thread soon.

Largest snowfall ever in Baltimore (24'-40") depending on locations. At least there is no follow up drifting, or the flooding along the coastal areas from Ocean City on up past Long Island.

Had to laugh at some lady posting on a neighborhood site, who yesterday asked an incredibly important question, that no doubt was on the top of everyone's minds here...... 'Will there be trash pick-up on Monday?'

It's been weird that the Northeast is getting pummeled and here in Minnesota it's been in the 30s and extremely comfortable. It's been a weird winter so far. Raining in December, our usual bitter cold in January (-20 without wind chill) and now it's 30 degrees and I opened the window yesterday to let fresh air in.

Our storms are coming soon though, there just won't be as much news coverage about it.

At least you got a winter. It completely passed us by here in Oklahoma. Yesterday we were down to the mid-thirties for the first time in a long time, and we're do to be back in the 70s to 80s for the rest of the week.

We weren't going to get the same South Carolina winds around here, but we were still expecting 15cm or so. It now appears that where I live is going to be right on the edge of the storm, and we'll likely get 5-7cm at most. :phew:

But, it's colder than a witch's cunt out there. -20C with the windchill.

I'm in the Pittsburgh area, they were predicting we would get 4-6 inches overnight. We literally got nothing. Supposed to accumulate around 1 inch throughout the day today... That's it.

I think we might have 5" with a nicely thick layer of ice on top. Supposed to change back to snow at some point today.

I think what pisses me off about this storm isn't really anything to do with the weather itself; it's the overblown sensationalization of the entire event. A local forecasting group has been sowing seeds of fear and panic since last week and calling this the BIG KAHUNA and all that, warning of stranded motorists, power outages and worst case scenarios we hadn't seen in March for 20+ years....and then all we get is this fartstorm.

I get being prepared, but this is the second time this year they've completely overblown and missed the severity of a storm. Earlier this year they fucked up so badly the storm never even happened. I am just so sick of oversensationalized fearmongering.
