A friend of mine came up with this idea and I just started doing it, too. Just for fun, we are trying to come up with a comprehensive list of 1,000 of our favorite songs. This is an interesting thing to tackle. Basically, I am going through my iTunes and sending the songs I want in it into a playlist I created called Kevin 1,000. Having been laid up with a cold for the past few days, what else have I had to do?
My original goal was to not have more than 10 songs per band/artist, but that has proven to be most difficult.
Ultimately, I will probably end up rounding them out to no more than 10 per artist, which will be tough for some bands, but it will make for a more well-rounded list, for sure.
And I am trying to limit the number of longer songs. For example, I could easily make all 10 songs by Yes long ones, but I think a nice mix of short and long ones will make for a nice mixture, instead of just automatically picking the top 10 absolute favorites by my favorite bands. It goes without saying that bands like Rush, PT, U2, The Beatles, Floyd, TFK, DT, etc. will get to the max 10, but many will fall in the 4-6 range, and then there will be much variety when the list is all said and done.
Anyone else want to take a crack at this, using similar guidelines? I think it'd be interesting to see the differences in lists when it is all said and done.
