The Overture in Exogenesis...Wow..
« on: October 15, 2010, 03:12:30 PM »
Don't know why it had taken me so long but I finally got "The Resistance" by Muse.  Exogenesis is an amazing song, especially the overture.  Gave me chills.  This is why I love Muse.

Yeah it's a really solid album. Guiding Light is still terrible, but the rest is top notch stuff, and movement 1 of Exogenesis is indeed amazing! Seeing it live was pretty damn cool. :D

The only song I like from that album are: Resistance, Exogenesis and maybe Undisclosed Desires, the rest goes from bad to really bad.
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

Hmm, Exogenesis in general is one of my problems with the album, never really liked it.

I never got into the album beyond Eurasia, Resistance, and Uprising.

I think I'm the only person that found "Eurasia" to be TOO cheesy to enjoy.

Agreed. Except I think the last part is a bit cool.

I love the symphony, one of the best things they've ever done!
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Resistance, Undisclosed Desires, Uprising, and Exogenesis are my favorites from that album.  Seeing the overture live was pretty epic.  It would be awesome if they played the whole thing.  It took me a while for the symphony to grow on me, because in all the interviews Matt did before the album came out, I was expecting something more like a super-epic, orchestral, "Take a Bow" type song.  We got something really really different, but I think it works.

Exogenesis is very well done in my opinion, but it's still missing a sense of completion to it. The general progression of the elements don't make a lot of sense to me. I enjoy the whole album aside from Guiding Light, Undisclosed Desires, and I Belong to You. Unnatural Selection and MK Ultra are a relief that parts of Muse' old career still exists.
