Yay my copy arrived yesterday!
Bloody good album! I love the way the first couple of minutes of the album goes "here is heavy" then "here is something that is a bit ridiculous", just to let me know that haken haven't lost the mad bits from the old demos!
Personal favourite bit is probably the fast trade off bit between the 2 guitars where the last 2 notes end up leading on from each other to do the melody. Generally really solid album though. I'll give a more detailed review in the review section once I have listened to it a few more times...

Apologies for the length, it would have been a small fraction of that if I didn't have my dissertation to do :p

Um, wow?

Aquarium really grabbed my attention, and Eternal Rain is my second favourite on the album (SOLO) but...

Celestial Elixir is absolute genius, and destroys everything else Haken have written. It's a whole seperate level of musicianship. Just wow. I'm completely floored, and really would love similar stuff to be written in the future. It's such a simple song for 17 minutes - and it really works. Some might say the circus parts detract, but then they probably shouldn't listen to Haken in that case :lol I can see where they are coming from though, the chorus is one of the most emotional songs I've heard all year. Major props to mr singer for that delivery.

My personal opinion

1. Drowning in the Flood
2. Aquarium
3. Sun
4. Celestial Elixir
5. The Point of no Return
6. Eternal Rain
7. Streams

And I really like streams! The list descends from 10/10 down to about 9/10 :p

First album was ok, some good stuff but I dunno, nothing stood out that much.

However, now on the third track of Sing-Along Songs for the Damned and Delirious, and it is AMAZING! So much fun! :tup

Was pretty damn surprised to see Aquarius in a record store, and knew that I needed to get it based on what people here are saying.

The album is amazing.

I hope to hear some more music soon! Or, at least, a tour! That'd be awesome.

Yeah I know they're planning to do a bit of touring, but I've no idea whether that'll just be UK and Europe or not. Rumour has it they'll be playing Prog Power Europe though...

I still find myself listening to celestial elixir far far far more than the other tracks. The others range from great to awesome, but CE is a 17 minute epic masterpiece.

Hi guys

I'm glad you are all liking Celestial Elixir, that has to be my favorite on the album too.

Glad you liked it PC!

Yeah I know they're planning to do a bit of touring, but I've no idea whether that'll just be UK and Europe or not. Rumour has it they'll be playing Prog Power Europe though...

You are indeed right Rich, we'll be opening on the Saturday. We're going to be in good company, and are really looking forward to playing in such a great line-up. We're also thinking of setting up a headlining show at some point over the summer, I hope those of you based in the UK will be able to make it, we'll need your support. We played the show with DSO last night, they are a great band to see live! We played 'Streams', 'Eternal Rain' and 'Celestial Elixir', the crowd seems to dig it and weren't put off by the trombonist and 2 trumpeters that made an entrance during 'Celestial'  ;D (well, I suppose DSO fans are used to it!)

Was pretty damn surprised to see Aquarius in a record store, and knew that I needed to get it based on what people here are saying.

The album is amazing.

I hope to hear some more music soon! Or, at least, a tour! That'd be awesome.

Hell yeah! Are you from over the pond?

In other news, we're going to be featured in the next issue of 'Classic Rock presents Prog', I think its out next week. Its a great magazine that covers all areas of prog, check it out.

Cheers

Hen

Amazing news, I'm really happy for you guys! On the same day as Shadow Gallery is not too shabby!

Assuming it's when I'm back in London then I shall definitely be there, can't wait to see you guys again! Would that be at the Peel again, or will you be finding some new venues? ;)

Glad it went down well, was thinking of coming along but when I heard how early you were going on I didn't think I'd really be able to get home from work and then back into town in time so didn't bother in the end. I'll definitely be at any London headlining gigs though!

I wish I could have been there for DSO gig. If there is a UK headlining show in Sept I will be there with bells on

Oh Vintage Vinyl...

Could not believe the selection of stuff I would have had to go online to get.  I picked up Haken and the Linoleum EP that day, and had to stop myself from getting anything else or I easily could have spent around $200 in there.

Rich, we're thinking of arranging the gig at the Camden Barfly. That's where we played with Big Elf, the sound was pretty good that night! I'll keep you informed of any dates, it would be great if you guys could make it.

Barfly would be awesome, it's a nice little venue and much more accessible for most of London than Kingston! :P And yeah the sound there was good, more so for Bigelf as they were the headliners, obviously, but even you guys and the other support had pretty decent sound!

Exciting times :D
