Oh, baby.  I'm there.  It's only 20 minutes away from me.  I wonder if Portnoy will go and be together with the band.  That would be fun to see.  Maybe Moore will appear?

$250 for VIP tickets to mingle with the band.  $100 for regular tickets.

They couldn't do this a year ago? Kind of a sad coincidence they waited until MP was gone... :(

I know.  But it's their induction and he's a large part of the band's history.  I feel like he should be there.  Plus, he's from Long Island.  If he wasn't a LI native, I'd say OK.  But it feels like he should be there for the induction of the LI band he was a part of for 25 years, no?

Maybe not.  Idk.  I'm kinda torn on this one.

Get Portnoy, Sherinian, and Dominicci there and i'd fly out from Ca
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I just called the venue.  They're in discussions with DT about playing an acoustic set.  The reason for the acoustic set is because: a) the band doesn't currently have a drummer; b) Portnoy will still be on tour with AX7.  No dress code.  We can wear our DT goods.

An acoustic set? Lame. I mean its cool, but if I were being abducted into a RRHF, I'd want to go all out.

Dude, what are you talking about, an acoustic set would be phenomenal. Playing a regular set would just be boring, whereas the last time they did an acoustic set was during FII times.

This.  Hopefully youtube awaits this performance.

I assume acoustic as in just the remaining members? Wouldn't make much sense to do acoustic if portnoy is going to join them.

Yes. Them thinking about having DT do an acoustic set clearly means MP is not showing.

An acoustic set would be interesting. But what could they play?

I'd think they would do a version of "Wither" that is a mix between the piano/vocals only version and the album version, with acoustic guitar thrown on top.

Also, "The Answer Lies Within", "I Walk Beside You", "Vacant", "Disappear" (!!!), and maybe some old FII-era songs that haven't been played in awhile. Maybe "Solitary Shell" and "Goodnight Kiss"? It'd be hard to do some of their longer, and/or heavier songs in such a format... but if they had to pick an epic, I'd say maybe "Trial Of Tears". How funny would it be if they pulled out "Space-Dye Vest"? :lol

I'm sure they would invite MP.  But he'll still be doing AX7 shows.  Unless he opts to ditch a couple AX7 shows to come to LI for the induction.  I guess that's always a possibility.

I know it's a stretch, but I hope Kevin Moore makes an appearance.  He had a key role in the band's early success.  Kinda cool also that Jordan happens to be a Long Island native as well.

No to both. Portnoy really cant just ditch A7x for a few shows, it would totally screw them over. And Kevin Moore will have nothing to do with this, which is sad.

What about Charlie and Derek? I'm sure they'd love to come out to join them, considering they did so for the band's debut album's 15th anniversary 6 years ago. It'd be a nice gesture for the band to invite THEM at least, and whether or not they make it is then up to them.
