"Take Away My Pain" Demo Appreciation Thread

I, like so many others, prefer the original Demo of TAMP (found on the FII Demos) to the released album version. It's just so powerful and the solo before the quiet middle section is amazing. Also, "The curtain FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLSSSSSS" is amazing... with the next line too "There'll be no encore after all" totally completes the verse. I think the way JLB's voice is now he could totally NAIL that line at that pitch, rather than the downward melody they used for that line in later versions of the song.

I've been hoping the band will bring this version of the song back to the live stage. I think it would sound amazing live and they definitely enjoy playing FII songs in their '96 demo form - "Burning My Soul", "Lines In The Sand" and "Hollow Years" have all made it to the stage in recent years, and I think "Take Away My Pain" would be great to see brought back in its Demo form.

I like the added vocal part "their will be no encore after all." and the alternate lyric for the last verse "and say goodbye to jesus the world he left will never be the same"

I haven't heard the demo, but the OIALT version is amazing and the studio version is pretty meh.

I prefer the demo version. It's more emotional, it has the last verse with the original lyrics which are much more personal than on the album, and I love JLB on this song.

I definitely prefer the Demo version..no contest..but I would've preferred JLB not sing the final chorus and let it go out instrumentally.

How did I miss this thread? Yes - the demo version is a beautiful piece of music. Of all the songs that didn't make FII, this is one of the ones I miss the most.
