That's totally the reason I came into the thread.

This might sound totally insane, but I'd like to hear an acoustic Meshuggah album (as in trying to recreate their sound acoustically, or at least, toning the metalnes down so it's not loud-ass guitars that don't allow greater intricacy) with collaboration with a ton of Indian musicians.

That... actually sounds really, really awesome. I like the way you think.

Mike Portnoy and Devin Townsend. Think about it. Portnoy's balls + Devin's guitar faces. You can't tell me that isn't a tasty concept.

More of a cool supergroup, but whatever:

D.C. Cooper (lead singer)
Carl Cadden-James (bass, backing vocals, songwriting)
Nick Van Dyk (keyboards, songwriting)
Nick D'Virgilio (drums)
Paul Gilbert (guitar, wild card element)

I could probably find a better fit at guitar for this sound, but that's actually why I went with Paul.  Not one among you can tell me this lineup would suck.  NOT A ONE.

Claudio Sanchez (rhythm guitar/backing vocals)
Dan Briggs (bass)
Zbigniew Robert Promiński (drums)

Kevin Moore + Roger Waters

the most depressing music ever written would be the result
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
