Score on Blu-ray?
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:54:51 AM »
Incredibly, there are other discussion boards that I visit from time to time, and one of them had the following on Monday:

'Score: Uncut & Uncensored' Announced for Blu-ray (link)

:omg:  But if you follow the link, you'll see that it's some movie no one's ever heard of.  Well, not me anyway.

Then yesterday, I was once again teased, with this:

Blu-ray Review: The Score (link)

>:(  At least I'd heard of that movie.  I even heard it was pretty good, but all I know is that it spams my search results when I try to find "Score" by Dream Theater.

Finally, it occurred to me: Is Score available on Blu-ray?  Are any DT vids available in high-def?  I didn't have a Blu-ray player when Score came out, so my decision was clear cut, but I don't even remember now, and it's proving rather challenging to research the answer.

Well, the shows would have to be recorded in HD and the only show that's even remotely DT related is the LTE Downey show in L.A.  That's the only Blu-ray available to my knowledge.

DT has no blu rays, and I don't think any of their videos would look that much better on blu ray (maybe Score? Hard to tell if the image quality is from the DVD compression or not). However, the audio could be greatly improved, so I'm really hoping we get a couple eventually released on blu-ray.  :hat

Mike says budokan and score were recorded in HD. And there is the posibility of a release on Blu ray. But i can't remember when he said that sorry.

Well, it's something.  And I'm not really pining for it on Blu-ray or anything, just wondering, since it came up (sortuv) on the HDD site recently.

Im thinking score and budokan could translate to blu-ray, but Budokan already looks pretty good, Score could definitely look better.

Octavarium is a G#5 if I'm not mistaken, so, we have something even better than the F#

I'm pretty sure JLB also hits in the F#5 area on "Live in Tokyo", although it has been awhile since I've watched that one.

I was watching the 5 Years DVD the other day and he hits an F#5 during the LTL segment, albeit at a different point since the initial F#5 section has been removed from the song.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't hit it because LTL isn't on the Budokan DVD... unless I'm missing something here. It's definitely not part of the setlist, so unless you mean something from the extra features or the documentary (none of which I've seen in awhile), then he definitely didn't hit it on the Budokan DVD.

Yup, major screw up by me. I meant Bucharest, the other "Bu" starting DVD. Sorry for the confusion.

I've said this a couple of times.  First time, Gwii disagreed with me and Hef backed up my statement (I think?).  Second time, Bosk disagreed and Hef backed it up again.  God bless that Hef man.

As Jordan says in the audio documentary of Live in Tokyo: "F sharp and G ladies and gentlemen." Both in the fifth octave, I believe it's during Lie, but I'm totally not sure.

It means you can watch Dream Theater with all the wankery intact?

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the point is of "correcting" someone on something that was true at the time.

Also, I totally forgot that I made this thread.

Ok so going back to my question about a future blu-ray Score, I guess know one has any insight on this.  Who cares that the thread is old this question still needs to be answered.

I would buy SCORE in a heartbeat if it was available on Blu-ray. I own all DT DVD's, but I still haven't got the Budokan gig on Blu-ray. I think it would be pretty cool.. picture wise. Soundwise, JLB is in pretty bad shape. I wish Budokan had a JLB performance like SCORE. To me, that's a crowning achievement for JLB. He's soooo off key and struggling on Budokan, and suddenly so professional, on key, and full sounding on SCORE.

There has been nothing from the band about this.  As far as I know, this is a complete non-issue.
