Albums good enough for a full listen, multiple times.
« on: August 26, 2010, 06:49:05 PM »

Hello all, what albums do you feel are great as a whole, and keep your attention the whole way through? I'm talking about albums that have a distinct feel throughout, and that give you a certain feeling as a whole.

For me: PT- Deadwing
           Opeth- Ghost Reveries
           DT- Awake, SFAM
           Yes- Close to the Edge
           King Crimson- Discipline
POS- The Perfect Element Pt I
Faith No More- Angel Dust, King For a Day, Fool For a Lifetime
           Mr. Bungle- California
           Gentle Giant- Acquiring the Taste
           Tool- Lateralus
Primus- Pork Soda, Sailing the Seas of Cheese

Avoiding the obvious pinnacles of album oriented rock etc..

System of a Down - Toxicity (it just flows well, to me it doesn't sound like it's supposed to be just a collection of songs)
BTBAM - Colors (Yeah this one is pretty obvious. Anyway, as a whole it is awesome. Too bad I'm not often in the mood for this one.)

Pretty much the same for me as well. I listen to albums 95% of the time, and single songs 5% of the time.

I find no reason in posting ones you all probably already know, so I'll do ones most of you probably haven't heard (No prog or metal bands)

Susanne Sundfor - The Brothel (really recommended)
Jeff Buckley - Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk
Nick Drake - Time of No Reply
Gruvis Malt - With the Spirit of a Traffic Jam
Shpongle - Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland
Tom Waits - Bone Machine
Yann Tiersen - Le Phare (really good)

So try some if you like different styles
