I'd say Norah Jones' first few albums qualify for this genre, and are excellent. And Kenny G! [/halfjoking]

Neal Schon.  No joke, he had some solid smooth jazz going for a few years, including a hit or two.

Beyond the Thunder is some pretty high flying and uplifting stuff.

Electric World has more of a moody sort of thing going.

"Smooth Jazz" is a recognized genre now, and it does not mean "Mainstream Jazz Which is Smooth".

I reluctantly throw in my support for Neal Schon's Beyond the Thunder.  I borrowed it from a friend who's a big Journey fan.  We were talking about side projects and I mentioned Schon & Hammer (instrumental fusiony stuff - pretty cool) and he lent me Beyond the Thunder.  After getting over my shock that it was crappy Smooth Jazz, I realized that it was pretty decent Smooth Jazz.

Reminded me of the time I checked out a Craig Chaquico solo album years ago and discovered that it was crappy Smooth Jazz.  The crappy kind, that is.  After I got over the shock, it wasn't any better.

The Rippingtons are a must. Go get some now.

Nelson Rangell
Kofi
The Yellowjackets
Acoustic Alchemy

Give me time and I'll come up with more, but that should get you started. Definitely check out AA and Rippingtons for now.
