Considering I haven't heard Supper's Ready, I'm going to have to pick Close to the Edge.

Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

How can you pick against a song you have never heard?

I went with "Supper's Ready."  Both are spectacular in every way possible, regardless.

Supper's Ready by a hair.  It's each bands definitive epic.  However, comparing Yes and Genesis is like comparing Apples and Oranges.
I don’t know what to put here anymore

It makes the choice pretty easy, actually.

You're right though, I'll remove my vote.

Close to the Edge is infinitely better! Supper's Ready is still ok, though.

"Supper's Ready", definitely. Apocalypse In 9/8 = :hefdaddy

Had it been "Supper's Ready" vs. "The Gates Of Delirium", I would have got with the latter due to the insane middle battle section and the beauty of the closing section "Soon". "Gates" always seemed a bit more comparable to "Supper's Ready" in my mind, being that they are similar length (TGOD clocks in at 21:56 compared to CTTE at 18:43), they have similar subject matter (battles and war involved), and have memorable closing sections.

However, "Close To The Edge" is more defined as being Yes' definitive epic and while I love it, I just find "The Gates Of Delirium" a bit more interesting, but since this is not the case here, the clear winner is "Supper's Ready".

Fuck, this is super close.  I love both songs dearly, but I think "Supper's Ready" will have to win, because I love Peter Gabriel, and the "Willow Farm" section too much.

I honestly had no idea these two epics were considered so equal. I just tend to hear way more talk about Close to the Edge I guess..

I didn't vote.  I would say "...because I hate polls like this" but the OP Noob might take it the wrong way.  They are both fucking amazing, and which one I choose to listen to at any given time depends on my mood and nothing else.

Both are great, but my vote goes to CTE

Supper's Ready still is the definitive Genesis song.  As good as Yes is, and as wonderful as CTE is, sometimes Anderson's voice gets to me after a while.  But I never get sick of Supper's Ready, especially one of the live versions.  Phil's version is quite good, but nobody touches Gabriel.  You should try to find a live video of Supper's Ready with Gabriel.  Outstanding visuals.

Pretty easy pick for me - Supper's Ready.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Close To The Edge

I got a bit tired of Supper's Ready. And the rest of Foxtrot, for that matter. I don't know why...
