Sane has to be my third favorite off Chaosphere, right after The Exquisite Machinery of Torture and New Millennium. My reaction to the intro: holy shit!

Also, inb4 Futile Bread Machine.

Made this myself. Darth Nihilus ftw.

I saw Meshuggah on Friday at Bloodstock Festival. They absolutely owned it! :metal

Listening to Sol Niger Within right now; it is one the most brilliant and weird albums I have ever heard. I hope Fredrik does some more solo stuff soon.

The thought that it was almost Behemoth->Meshuggah->Opeth, but wasn't, makes me really disappointed. :( That would have been 3 of my absolute favourite bands back-to-back.

Yeah, and what made it worse was that Cathedral were supposed to be the replacement (who I wanted to see), but they moved Gorgoroth up and had Cathedral earlier, so I missed them and then suffered the worst live performance I've ever seen by any band ever in Gorgoroth. :(

Still, Jens metal faces ftw! :metalol:

One of the first Meshuggah songs I heard.  Remains a favorite to this day.  Fucking amazing song.

Agreed. I've said it before, and I'll say it again(IT WAS ALL TOO MUCH FOR THE ALIENNNN!!!), but the solo is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. It's simplicity, note choice, phrasing, and the way it fits perfectly into that part of the song is AMAZING

Agreed, it's like they heard all the people complaining how "un-melodic" they are and composed a beautiful section like the end.

ObZen is a pretty good mix of all the different directions Meshuggah had taken in the past few years. I'm interested to hear the new album.

You know what is absolutely badass? Tomas Haake uses a Sabian Legacy 22 inch heavy ride as a crash.

I remember listening to Catch-33 many years ago and loving it. So heavy but it had this feel of musicality I had never heard. It flowed well with the cool time changes and (I think) poly-rhythms.

Currently opened to listening to some new heavy bands so thought to try Meshuggah, any specific album recommendations?
