I have been watching Alive like crazy the past few days, it's a shame Dancers To A Discordant System isn't on it, such an amazing song.

I was looking at the lyrics for Rational Gaze and I thought one interpretation of them could be for the uncertainty principle.

Yes, those interludes are pretty fuckin shmick!
:2metal:
I have to add that I prefer the re-release of Nothing to the original. 8 string guitars were used on it while the 2002 original were detuned 7 string guitars. The drums I think had the exact same triggers used on Catch Thirtythree too.

EDIT: And Fredrik wrote the music to Future Breed Machine. He fuckin' wins.

The solo on Straws Pulled at Random is so amazing. It's so simple, but the execution and note choice is fucking beautiful.

I'm guessing later this year. Tomas said in an interview earlier this year that they haven't really planned any work on a new album. My guess is late next year we'll get something, but perhaps that's even a long shot. We can only hope :(

Thomas Haake can probably draw a perfect circle, the way he's so damn precise with the double bass and all. How the hell does he do the beat in Bleed?

Mεrten Hagstrφm is a genius who probably gets off to complex mathematics, and to the thought of crushing testicles using cinder blocks. His riffs are brutal as hell.

Fredrik Thordendal's solos are beautiful, smack dab in the middle of that which is made of solid, abrasive and razor-sharp metal, known as Meshuggah's rhythm section.

God, I love this band.

Made this myself. Darth Nihilus ftw.

Hah yeah. And Thordendal's guitar tone is VERY recognisable too! He's been using the same tone for his leads since the first album I think. And his style much different to a lot of guitarists (jazzy vibes).

I love trying to headbang to their polyrhythms and shit, and Obzen is one of the heaviest songs I've ever heard!

If you want to know where Fredrik gets his jazz fusion, atonal soloing style, check out Allan Holdsworth if you already haven't. Pretty much Fredrik's main influence. Allan is of the most incredible guitarist i've ever heard. Fredrik's style isvery close to Allan, but I wouldn't call it copying, it's a sort of tribute, because I've never heard anyone that can match Allan's style and pull it off sounding original.
Basically Fredrik Thordendal if Allan Holdsworth was abducted by aliens.

Soul Burn has a potential to be my all-time favorite Meshuggah song. It's tied with New Millennium right now. But I'm not even through half their discography, so I'll see.

Oh you're in for a treat mate! I should warn you may not like their post-Chaosphere era (Nothing through to obZen) if you already are digging up to Chaosphere. That's how I felt about their discography, but you listen and listen and listen and listen 'til you understand/get it all and that's when you'll like everything nearly equally

It was pretty awesome. I loved Humiliative and Gods of Rapture. Both of them sound closer to Chaosphere, and I love Chaosphere.

Glad you liked it! I think it was their first musical direction change, they got Ibanez 7 string guitars for None through to Chaosphere.
Oh and I love Chaosphere too. I keep saying either that album, DEI, or Catch Thirthythree is the best album.
