Almost two years ago, Exodus played a ~1,000-person venue that I go to a few times a year, and Warbringer was the opener. I was in Disney with the marching band though.

Here's a great link for great quality thrash that is lesser known:

https://rateyourmusic.com/list/samiam667/criminally_underrated_thrash__
Only album I've heard on that list is Eternal Nightmare. It's not bad.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

If you can find any of these I highly recommend them

Whiplash....any of their 3 release but the first 2 are mandatory
Exhorder....These guys were a huge influence on Pantera (although Pantera will never admit it)
Onslaught....Great/Great Riffs but like most of the albums from this era the production suffers
Sacrifice/Razor/Exciter...Canadian Thrash at its finest

Overkill is one of my favorite bands of all time..but rather than go into a long winded rant about how great they are and why I love them so I'll just say I'll be seeing them yet again in April with Accept and doing the meet and great with both bands .

Damn... It sucks living in a small central/southeastern european country most artists don't care about at all. :-[

I think Horrorscope and The Years of Decay are my favorite tracks, from what I can remember. Anyway my friend has a few of their CD's so he'd put them while we would play PES or something.

Not really thrash metal tracks, but I digged them the most.

My favourite Overkill song is Devil By The Tail. It made me want to learn bass guitar! Bobby Blitz is a good reminder that in the increasingly heavy world of metal, there is still room for an actual singer in a heavy band.

And Bobby is one of the nicest guys in the world, I've met and hung out with him numerous times, he really appreciates his fans.....One of my favorite lines in a movie of all-time...Get Thrashed Documentary..they are interviewing Bobby and they ask him...what's a typical Overkill fan like? he replies " I don't know, probably 45, an accountant, 2 kids living in the suburbs" with the straightest face...the look on the interviewer is priceless...Bobby than follows it up with 'ohhh you mean back in the day....black jeans, t-shirt and hightops"

I'm thinking about getting into Voivod. Anyone here who knows them well enough to recommend?

Voivod is a tough band to nail down...since your talking Thrash   War and Pain...RRRoooooaaarrr or maybe Killing Technology ...they than branched out and started mixing prog with metal..they covered Floyd/King Crimson and the likes, they had an industrial sound for an album or two...they have constantly changed the approach, The production on the early albums is lacking, but than again alot of the Thrash bands from that time suffered from it

Listening to War and Pain right now.  :metal This must be the only debut thrash album that has audible bass.

Kreator's "Pleasure to Kill" is one of the greatest thrash albums ever. Just saying.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

A little thrash here and there is great.

Out of the big 4, I like both Metallica and Slayer (mostly Metallica), but Megadeth are not that special, and Anthrax hasn't really clicked at all.
Apart from those, Trivium has a couple of thrash-ier songs, and I really like them, so yeah. :)

Someone else posted it already, but these lists:

https://rateyourmusic.com/list/samiam667/criminally_underrated_thrash__
https://rateyourmusic.com/list/samiam667/criminally_underrated_thrash_pt_2___

They are the absolute bibles of thrash. Every single album I've checked out so far kicks ass.

What does anybody think about Exodus's last three new albums?  Rob Dukes has got to be my favorite vocalist for them, as he just fits Gary Holts riffage like a charm, and Tom Hunting is a monster on drums.

Is the rest of their catalogue thrash?  Cause that definitely wasn't and was actually pretty enjoyable.

I have their early stuff.  It's kind of on the crossover side, like S.O.D. or M.O.D.

I don't listen to a lot of thrash, but when I do back when they were for a lil while, Iced Earth created the greatest (in my and no one else's opinion lololol) thrash albums ever in Night Of The Stormrider.
