Worst gig you've ever been to?

Pretty keen on hearing some stories about some really average gigs.  I don't have any myself though so, POST AWAY!

Not counting random local bands, cause they're usually BAD. I'll go with Nightwish at Pops in Sauget Illinois.

The band had very little, almost no energy. They looked like they just wanted to leave from the moment they got on stage. Anette was just horrible, boring as hell. One cool thing is that they brought out that indian guy, but he sounded like crap. It was just a bad gig, I wanted to leave early.

Motley Crue opening for Aerosmith in 2006 (zzzz... Vince Neil was horrible)
Aerosmith and Dropkick Murphys in 2009 (I don't like DM, and Aerosmith was so bad that I am just starting to get over it)
Bob Dylan in 2006 (just his recent performing style altogether... I can't do it. He sounds like a bad Bob Dylan impersonator.)

Ah freakin yeah, I saw him in '07 and he's sort of lost it a bit eh.  But I still enjoyed it.

Dragonforce in 2006. Terrible sound, awful support bands, and Dragonforce were horribly sloppy live.

The Mars Volta at the Bren Center at UC Irvine. They put on a decent show as far as I could tell, but the sound was so atrocious I could barely identify the song a lot of the time.

Probably Whitesnake about 2 years ago.  Sound was crap, David was average, hardly sang and when he did it was all backing anyway, I got sick of his constant sleazly pickup lines on the 5 women in the audience.

Doug was very sloppy, missed notes left right and center, and Uriah was the most boring bastard.  Reb was the only saving grace.  His very few leads were perfect and very original and inspired and his backups carried David the whole show.  Drummer wasn't bad but nothing flash.  Coverdale really just made me sick, and Reb playing second fiddle to a sloppy ass Sykes wannabe was enough for me.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Well to answer the thread title question the "worst" (not to say it wasn't good, as I've enjoyed every major gig I've attended) gig was probably seeing Sacred Oath at the FYE parking lot in Danbury, CT on Halloween 2009. It was cool because they had a tank from a local museum drove down and pt behind them for the show, and the 'stage' (more like little area they were standing in on the same level as the audience. It started raining about twenty minutes into the set and the power went out, although it was soon restored. No mosh pits broke out, because we were in a parking lot, and everything was soaked. The meet and greet afterwards was cool though, and it was storming throughout their set, and that made for some pretty epic moments. Not bad, just not the best gig.

The Mars Volta.  The sound was absolutely horrible, and they only played for an hour and a half with no opening acts.  The singer had a hissy fit and closed with "The Widow" with no encore.  The BiG songs were pretty good live, but the other songs except for "Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus" didn't work.

Surprisingly enough it was Rush on the Hold Your Fire tour.  I've seen them countless times and the sound has always been amazing, except for this one time.  It wasn't where they were playing either because I'd seen them in said arena many times before and since and it has been great.  It was all high-range and somewhat muffled.  Sounded horrible.

Off the top of my head, probably Cynic. God they were so bad live. Killed the mood between Devin Townsend and BTBAM.

At one point the fucking lead singer tried to get the audience to do yoga with him, and all he got was a room full of people going "wtf?"

Hollywood Undead.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Chris Cornell when he toured for his album Euphoria Morning. He's awesome in the studio but everything I've ever heard of him live has been terrible - really off key and just plain bad. The night we saw him, my sister and I were cringing at all the bad notes. Very disappointing.

That may not have been the worst but it was the first show that came to mind.

Actually, Dragonforce were pretty good when I saw them.  Of course, nearly every song sounded the same (save "Strike of the Ninja," "Valley of the Damned," and "Through the Fire and Flames," actually, that was the whole encore), but the only parts where they really messed up were in TTFAF.

I'll go with A Perfect Circle in Philly on the 13th Step tour. The band and sound were great, but Maynard was being such a Tool (pun intended) with his between-song speeches and was constantly flat. That, and the band didn't even bother with an encore.

Not counting opening acts, I can't say I have ever been to a concert where the main act was bad enough to warrant calling it the "worst gig" I have ever been to, but I will say that Dream Theater in Chicago in 2002 is easily the most disappointing.  It was a good overall first set and encore, but the MoP cover in the second set was very disappointing. /opens up a can of worms :p

Same, I've never been to a 'bad' gig, but for all intensive purposes I picked my least favorite.

I saw Mountain open for Triumph in the 80's and I wanted to cut Leslie West's vocal chords so my ears could heal.

And this may be a shock for a few but Joe Satriani bored the hell out of me backing DT.  Everything sounded samey to me.

Were it not for the Fleet Foxes, their first album would be my favourite from 2008.

Haven't gotten round to Contra.

I loved them on SNL, then I checked them out on the internet and loved everything and I still haven't got the CD yet.  I need to buy it.

What? I think very few people would argue with you that those 2nd sets were disappointing to say the least.

Mom - Hey Alex, you want to go to a concert tonight?
*Alex too busy playing his Halos to understand what she is talking about*
Alex - Yeah, sure. Just let me know when we are leaving

As we approached the venue, I see a sign that says "Tonight - Nickleback w/ Chevelle and Trapt"
