The Time Machine Thread
« on: July 30, 2010, 11:14:59 AM »
Inspired from the concert thread.  If you had a time machine, and could go back and see only ONE show, who would it be?

For me, it would be The Who, on the Tommy tour.

I don't think it was part of the Tommy tour, but to have been at Leeds when The Who's Live at Leeds show was recorded would have been awesome.

If you haven't, check out Live at The Isle of Wight album.  It has Tommy live, and is, fucking, sick. :hefdaddy

Is that on DVD? I've seen some show with them, Entwistle has on the full-body skeleton outfit. Is that the same show? 'Tommy' really comes alive in concert for me. Maybe is it due to overlistening to the album, but it doesn't hold the appeal to me as it used to (and as much as 'Who's Next' and 'Quadrophenia' still do.)

Queen on either the A Night at the Opera tour or Jazz tour. I would kill to see Freddy Mercury perform in person.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Rush on the Permanent Waves tour:

That's a hell of an answer, especially since Rush is my favorite band that I haven't seen live...but since I still may get to see them live I'm going to go with Kevin Gilbert/Toy Matinee, because that ship ain't comin' to port no more.

Pink Floyd.  Either the WYWH tour or the Division Bell tour.  No contest.

If I had a second choice I might pick a 70s/80s Pink Floyd show

My friends were going to see Queen on the Hot Space tour and I wanted to go but my parents said I was too young.  That was 1982 and I was 14.  They started to let me go the next year and Queen never came back. :'(

That reminds me of a friend of mine who is a few years older than me.  He had a chance to see them, I think on that tour, but ended up not going, saying, "I'll see them next time."  And they never came back to St. Louis.  I still give him crap about that. :lol :lol

It's cool to think that (hopefully) I'll be able to say one day: "Yeah, [Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Judas Priest, etc...], I saw those on their last tour ever!"

John Mayer's Where The Light Is. No joke, listen to it before you slag him off.

Failing that, Metallica's S&M or Live Shit, Binge and Purge, or Dave Matthews Band's Live In Chicago or The Central Park Concert.

Pulse
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.
