Anyone who says this is (and then criticizes it for being) metalcore has no idea what they're talking about.

Also those green eyes look pretty crappy (And the EOP cover is much better :metal ). But hey, it's better than the Mullmuzzler 2 cover.

And now, misheard lyrics:

WERE RAPED TO PRETEND THAT YOU WERE FIRED
WHEN I WAS SO GAY NOW
I COULDNT IGNORE OF THAT PAIN IN FLY
IT'S TAKEN YOUR SUB BOWL
I WASHED YOUR SAW, AND TAKE OVER, YEAH!
IT TASTED SO OWL-LESS

wtf?

James LaBrie obviously isn't a metalcore artist. But unless you like needlessly specific genre parameters, there's no reason at all to get in a fuss over this song being described as such.

I thought it was pretty obvious that this was not metalcore. It has no hardcore influence or style, contains proggy keyboards, sounds more like melodeath then anything.

It's not that it's being described as it, it's that it's being criticized/dismissed as it. See:

I can't until this metalcore shit goes out of style.

It's irritating as hell to have a genre that has a fair amount of artists I enjoy being blamed for a poor song* that has nothing to do with the genre. It's the equivalent of someone hearing a Bloodbath song and going "god I hate when bands try to do the 'progressive metal' thing".

No one is saying the whole song is metalcore but the verses are a blatent attempt at it and it sounds bad as does metalcore in general.

And that includes the verses. Seeing as how even the musicians involved describe it more as melodeath, I really have no idea where you're getting this.

If you don't like it, fine, but there's no need to blame some other unrelated genre for it.

As soon as the song started I thought "Oh, cool: The Test That Stumped Them All is gon-- YARK YARK YARK YAAARRK!!! what the hell, LaBrie? ... Oh, there he is."

Like someone already said here, not the biggest thing, over technical in some parts. Nothing special.

Oh. I get it. You disliked it being called metalcore because people thing metalcore is synonmous with "shit." I gotcha.

Well, I like some metalcore, and feel that this song is something that a good metalcore band could pull off, though it's also got a total prog thing going on.

Names of albums don't really bother me too much. It's the music that matters.
But I do think Mullmuzzler is a cool name :P

I don't think anyone approached the album and decided not to buy it because of the name.

WTF Do you guys think that's a great name?  Or even a passable name?  It's awful.

You're right. I first heard of Mullmuzzler back when the only DT I owned was Awake, LIT/5YIALT, and Images. So my perception of James was already that he was kind of a goofball. I read the name "Mullmuzzler" online, probably, and thought to myself "man, what the fuck kind of side project is that?" At the time, I was also probably blurring the JLB side project with that Leonardo thing he did, since that was coming out around then too.

I don't like Mullmuzzler, but I think it's a lot better than "James LaBrie." I mean, it's pretty damn obvious that James likely doesn't write any of the music, and only writes half the lyrics. And he's not as high caliber as someone like Bruce, where he can get away with it. I just think he and his band would have a better overall presentation if they had a proper name. But, oh well. It's the music that counts.
