Posting this from a bar, where somebody selected that stupid "dashboard light " song. Man,  that pseudo-metal piano rock with the musical vocals over it is unbearable.
Wow,  as I'm typing this, the song is over and "don't stop believbelievin'" is on. Whoever fedf the jukebox has the musical taste of a 18 year old college girl.

Die.  Bat out of Hell is one of the greatest albums ever and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is a great song.  I don't think Jim Steiman was trying to be metal at ALL with that song.  Now with the title track, maybe.

I generally don't like Meat Loaf; I think his vocal style is too over the top and too operatic.  However, "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" is a fun song, despite being overplayed to death.  I am pretty sure I still know all of the lyrics to it every time I hear it.

The Bat out of Hell trilogy is one of the greatest achievements of any musician ever. Jim Steinman is a fantastic composer and musician. Paradise By the Dashboard Light is absolutely no exception.

It's the combination of Steinman's over-the-top Broadway rock and Meat Loaf's delivery that make the magic.  That's why all Meat Loaf albums written by Steinman are great and all the ones without him suck.  Those two need each other.

Thats the quality of his voice, and JLB's and Dickinson's voices, that I love the most.  Without Meat Loaf, getting into bands like DT may not have been so easy for me.

I dunno, I wasn't crazy about Lasagnas last album. Sure, the tracks were very well layered, but when he kept trying to come off as saucy, it just came off as cheesy.

That's cool, but I just hate the Meat Loaf, for example, often turns a one-syllable word into a three-syllable word, simply by going crazy with it.  Some can do that and have it sound good.  Most of the time, I hate it when Meat Loaf does that, at least on most of the stuff I have heard by him.

Don't know the Meatloaf song, but I really can't stand Don't Stop Believing.

I didn't particularly like it even before Glee made it inescapable. Pretty dull and sugary for a start, but it was basically that song that everyone seemed to think was their own special song that only they and their boyfriend or their parents or their climbing society knew about. "Nobody appreciates the classics any more," or whatever, so it kind of annoyed me that it was so interminable. Nowadays, though, it's so ubiquitous that I just go "Oh god" whenever it comes on. Tedious.

Bat Out of Hell and I Would Do Anything For Love are classics. Besides those two songs, I got tired of Meat Loaf.

It's All Coming Back To Me Now is another great song imo.

And how anyone can hate Don't Stop Believin is beyond me. Nothing is better than driving down the street at 2 in the morning shouting the song out the window with 5 other people. Ah memories.

Glee had nothing to do with making Don't Stop Believing popular again. Family Guy started it back in 2004 and suddenly all kinds of TV shows were using it. I've heard it countless times in bars and parties since coming to college 5 years ago. It drives me nuts every time it comes on.
