Katy Perry/Pain of Salvation similarity.
« on: July 10, 2010, 06:25:23 AM »
Has anyone heard the new Katy Perry song??  California Girls??  Is it just me or does the robot like vocals at the end sound very similar to the chorus in Pain of Slavation's Used??

I have made a file with POS in the left speaker and Katy Perry in the right.  All I have done is sped up the POS track to be relatively in time with the Katy Perry track.  I have not changed any keys.  The similarity starts at 0:05 sec.

I am not saying it's ripped off at all, because that's just about impossible, just a similarity I got a kick out of.  Posted this in the POS thread but wanted to see if anyone else agrees or wether I'm just crazy.

Good find! The Pain of Salvation one is superior, thankfully.

I didn't click your link, but I suppose you mean the electronic "California Girls" part sounding like "I am falling..."? I can kind of see the similarity, yes, but it's nothing to be alarmed about.

Oh, and you helped me find something I hate more than Katy Perry.

Katy Perry feat. Snoop Dog.

If you click the link, you will hear that they are exactly the same. Same tempo, same notes, it's uncanny.

But no, nothing to be alarmed about. It's just neat. :p

I went WTF at the thread title.

No, nothing to be alarmed about of course, but similar enough that you knew which part it was without clicking my link!  :P

As I said, the tempo is not the same, POS is slower, I sped it up just that little bit, to make them in time.  It is very similar though, even though I've sped it up, the key is the same, as is the melody.

Pain of Salvation should have a duet with Katy.  That would be amazing!
