The Reign of Kindo v. Update!
« on: July 06, 2010, 12:48:53 AM »
Any other fans? they are kind of popular among fans of dredg and The Dear Hunter namely.
They're kind of a jazz-tinged progressive pop band. Their debut album "Rhythm, Chord & Melody" from 2008, was pretty impressive to many.

"This Is What Happens" is their new album coming out on August 3rd.

1. Thrill of the Fall
2. Now We’ve Made Our Ascent
3. Symptom of a Stumbling
4. Bullets in the Air
5. Flowers by the Moon
6. Nightingale
7. Blistered Hands
8. Out of Sight, Out of Mind
9. Comfort in the Orchestration
10. City Lights & Traffic Sounds
11. Battling the Years
12. Soon It Shall Be
13. Psalm

check out this as far as I know, new/unreleased song/video "October's Storm"

edit: it's a Bonus Track from their debut record "Rhythm, Chord & Melody"

I'm still wondering who all checked this band out. They're tremendous, and pretty much everyone I ever hear about who does, loves the hell out of them.

new album "Play With Fire" coming February/March

https://www.facebook.com/thereignofkindo/posts/10151269434825390

Our new album, 'Play With Fire', is going to be released February/March. WE PROMISE!!!!! That might seem a bit later than you guys want, and we apologize that it's been taking so long. We don't, however, feel bad. The fact of the matter is, the music we make with each other is of the utmost importance to us. It is part
of what we'll leave behind on this earth forever, and we've come to realize that there are people out there relating to, enjoying and even being deeply affected by what we create as Kindo. That is something that sinks in a little more everyday, and it is one of the most precious blessings that any of us have in our lives. This album is among the most exciting things I have ever, ever been a part of. There was a night in my parents driveway a few years ago when I was listening to a mix of 'flowers by the moon'; a couple minutes into the song I was fighting tears as I thought about how grateful I was to be a part of this band. This album brought a similar moment. I let the tears come listening to an idea Danny brought to us...'Don't Haze Me'. I realized, without an arrogant or conceited bone in my body, that I was a part of something very special. We are our music, and having people to share it with is mind blowing. So we figured we'd do it right. And when guys have marriages, jobs, live in different cities and tour with other artists, things like making an album of a lifetime take a minute or two. If you're a fan of Kindo though... I can pretty confidently tell you that it's going to be worth the wait. -s

new song "Manwood/Basement" live. It gets pretty sweet around 3 minutes in.

Mang.... I discovered them on suggestion of a fantastic musician.... and I was sold instantly... Then I saw them mentioned on ariich's 50 thread (highly recommended btw) but I couldn't get around posting a comment....
Anyways... here I am finally showing some love to this band....  :heart

I'm not really into Dredg or The Dear Hunter.. and I think I've given them a fair chance.. (you never know though.. tastes evolve) but The Reign of Kindo hit me hard!  Especially with 'Breathe Again'...

Thanks for the thread!  :tup

the videos are estimated to be delivered in June. I would guess the album will be available soon after. It's already finished anyway.

By the way, they already met their $6500 goal being at $8877 already with 29 days left. It wouldn't surprise me if they received $30,000 or $40,000 before it's over.

Reign of Kindo got a bump from Periphery on facebook the other day.  Talk about an obscure connection.

Also, one of the members works at Guitar Center in the New York area and they are "striking" for better pay/benefits, etc.  It's a shame that, not only can these amazing musicians not make a living with their music, they can't even get by with a "real" job at a music store. :tdwn

May 28th: 1st single Feeling in the Night
June 25th: 2nd single Sunshine
July 30th: Album Released

Hey folks!

This is long overdue...but you can finally mark your calendars. It's official:

On July 30th, we will be releasing our new full length record, 'Play With Fire'. You'll be able to purchase it on itunes, amazon.com and candyrat.com. Physical copies can be purchased exclusively at candyrat.com.

What to do until then? I'm glad I asked:

On May 28th we will be releasing our debut single, 'Feeling In The Night' available on all of those same outlets.

On June 25th we will be releasing our second single, 'Sunshine'.

Two breadcrumbs leading to a giant musical pizza.

Thank you and bless you all.

-Joey

Play With Fire can be downloaded for sale now:

Fan-Fucking-Tastic album. Maybe their best and an AotY contender.

The lyrics to "I Hate Music" are gold.

They should totally put it up for streaming if it's as good as you say, because I really want to hear it but I can't afford it atm.

So happy to see a thread on this band! A friend got me into them about a year ago and I think they are a fantastic blend of jazz, pop, prog, rock...etc....

Love the new album as well!  Reign of Kindo stuff usually takes a little while to sink in for me, there's so much going on in most of their songs it takes quite a few album spins to get a good impression of the record, but so far I think its very strong.

A few stand outs include: Impossible World, Feeling in the Night, Make a Sound, Sunshine, Romancing a Stranger and I Hate Music.

The new album is really nice! I still think they're not matching the incredible melodies they had on their first full-length, but there are some exciting new dimensions to this album. Lovely stuff.

It's really bugging me, but a short section in Sing When Noone's Around references one of the songs from the first two albums but I can't work out which one it is. Might have to just listen to both albums tomorrow to try and find it.

They're going out on tour with Jolly and Scale the Summit this November. Too bad there's not any Upper Midwest dates for my own sake, but this is kind of significant for TROK to tour ANYWHERE in North America regardless. I'm hoping it'll lead to more touring of the States next year.
