Now, I'm sure there is plenty of appreciation out there for this absolute masterpiece from DT. So here's a place to show your love.

Tied with ACOS and 8VM for my favorite DT song.

Good song, but far from DT's best epic. There are sections that are just meh which kill it for me. Solitary Shell is rather boring and kills the song at that point for me.

The only negative thing I can say about it is that the Overture drags on too long. Other than that, a 9/10 song on my end.

These threads repeat themselves so much  :lol It's ok. I'm not a big fan of Goodnight Kiss (besides the solo), but the other parts in the suite are good. Both parts of About To Crash are epic!  :metal Not sure if collectively the whole song would make my top 20 though.

If "A Change Of Seasons" is DT's "Supper's Ready", then "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence" is their "2112"... and I'm not saying those things based on structure alone, but based on epicness. ACOS is great as it's a very tight, cohesive epic, but SDOIT is very great in that it introduces so many great themes in the "Overture", then expands on them in the rest of the song, with reprises and recurring themes... Definitely a top 5 DT song for me!

It's a great song, and I've always liked how it uses certain aspects of DT's sound that don't get explored very often.
Personally, I consider it more of a song-cycle than a single song. Still great though.

I really like the song, but to me it isn't quite in the same league as ACOS or 8VM.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

If the Overture was shorter and they omitted movements 3 & 4, it would rank much higher with me. As it is still probably top 20.

It's my 2nd favorite epic.

1. ACOS
2. SDOIT
3. 8VM

It's a wonderful song, and, despite it being one song with movements, the way it feels like a bunch of songs with a running theme makes me have hefdaddy's sentiments on it.

I didn't like 6DOIT at first but it has grown on me a lot. The only part I don't really like is Goodnight Kiss (apart from the solo).

Feels more like an 8 song suite than 1 song, which is fine. And as said, Overture drags on way too long. Aside from that it's great. Goodnight Kiss is probably my favorite.

Great disc. I could listen to that solo in Goodnight Kiss all day. The only thing that drags it down in a couple of places is how fake some of the instruments sound.

Solitary Shell is rather boring and kills the song at that point for me.

Solitary Shell is by far the best movement of SDOIT

I consider Solitary Shell to be boring.

The first five movements are great, but Solitary Shell is meh to me. I just never liked it.

Yes. I just don't feel any energy from it at all.

I remember times when I was getting into DT and I used to listen to the whole song almost every day for maybe three months while I was traveling to school in tram. It was exactly somthing like 35 minutes and than 5 minutes for the Losing Time / Grand Finale while I was walking to the school from the tram stop. It was always amazing and fresh experience... Of course after that it needed a break and from then I listen to it just occasionally but every time I do I still love it

Solitary Shell->the end is the greatest section of music ever. Whenever the intro to Solitary Shell comes on it makes me happy no matter what.

6DOIT is maybe one of the best compilation of lyrics/melodies/instrumentation that has ever been conceived

The acoustic guitar in that song does nothing for me. And the fact that its so happy irritates me, considering that movement is about a kid with autism. I'd imagine it would sound a bit less happy.
