The Tallest man on Earth
« on: June 23, 2010, 04:40:24 PM »
Anyone else familiar with this artist? I discovered him about 2 weeks ago and have barely listened to anything else since. The last time that happened was when I discovered Buckley quite some time ago, and he is now one of my favorite artists.

The guy who goes under the name 'The Tallest man on Earth' is Kristian Matsson from Sweden. The music is folk singer/songwriter-esque and very addicting. I couldn't stand his voice the first few listens but it really grows on you.

One of my favorites:

I've had his album Shallow Graves for a year or two now, really great stuff! Never did get round to checking out whether he had anymore material though.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.

I want more! It's the same as with Buckley. I fell in love with his music so quickly, but he had so little material :(.

This deserves a bump. If only because Harry confessed seeing this thread but not opening it.

Great music. He is already the #2 artist of my last 3 month thingie on last.fm - and I discovered his music 3/4 weeks ago.

BUMP

I just can't get enough of The Wild Hunt atm. This album is really close to perfect. I didn't even like it at first but now I'm listening to it like 4-5 times a day. Love is All is probably my favorite but there is no filler whatsoever it that record. His guitar playing, his voice, the songwriting... The man is a genius. I'll surely get his first CD and his EP that came out in 2010 in no time.

Just like Voxyn in his OP, he's basically all I'm listening to at the minute, this is insane. It annoys me that some people dismiss him immediately because they find his voice annoying, as they're really missing out on who is fast becoming one of the best artists I've ever heard.

I think at the minute King of Spain and Into The Stream are my favourites, and The Dreamer is amazing too.

What do you think of "Kids on the Run"? I think it's fantastic idea to end the album with a piano-driven piece a bit slower. Great, great song!

As I found out about this guy through Sputnik's top albums of 2010 list, I was already prepared to love Kids On The Run. They described the appeal of it perfectly, and it really does just seem to 'work' despite all of the out of tuneness and weariness you can hear in it. Love love love these albums. The EPs are also really good.

The lyrics of "Into the stream" are sooo sad and haunting...

EDIT: btw, this guy is becoming one of my top 10 artists ever... I love both of his albums to death!

Check out the EPs! Sometimes The Blues Is Just A Passing Bird has The Dreamer and Little River, two of my top 5 songs of his.

Cheap plug: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/43075/The-Tallest-Man-on-Earth-Sometimes-The-Blues-Is-Just-A-Passing-Bird/

Anyone who hasn't checked out this EP yet must do so soon, I'd put it on a par with his full lengths if we disregard quantity.
