Yeah, definitely the two strongest tracks, I think.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Ljudet Innan and Storm Corrosion are two of the best songs that both Mikael/SW has done (in all their projects). I rarely listen to the album though. I like it, but it never clicked that big for me as an album. Those two songs though...

Haven't listened to this in a while.  Need to remedy that.

Drag Ropes, Hag and Lock Howl are my favourites off this haunting and unique album. And I rarely use that word to describe an album, but I genuinely can't think of anything else that sounds like it.

I think I've said it before, but if I were to rank all of the albums I've heard from both Mikael and Steven Wilson together, the top three would be Blackwater Park, Fear Of A Blank Planet, then Storm Corrosion.

It's funny, because I went into the album when it came out not expecting to like it at all. I guess the two reasons I like it so much are A) how much atmosphere it has and how it covers a bunch of different moods instead of sticking with one throughout, and B) unlike a lot of other ambient records, it's still got a lot of melody and memorable musical parts to it.

I still love them all and it's funny to see a rating of mine. This was perhaps the last one I've done and I don't feel the need to do one ever again. I find them pretty arbitrary (now) and extremely limited in how much I actually like each song I'm rating; I'm simply too all over the place to ever have an actual list that lasts in accuracy for more than a few hours.

I digress. The album is still amazing and I think this will be one of the few albums that stands the test of time; I can see myself enjoying this decades from now in the fallout as my iPhone finally dies as the ending echoes of the ancient music will ring throughout the desolate, dead world.  :millahhhh :yarr

I do know that most of the time, my favorites are Ljudet Innan and Hag; they're both equally beautiful and dreadful all at once.

I think my main problem with the album is not that the individual songs are bad or lacking, but that the album as a whole just feels all over the place. Most of the tracks are atmospheric, but a track like Lock Howl doesn't sound like it should belong on the same album as a song like Ljudet Innan.

Been listening to this album the past few days and loving it more than ever.  I saw it ranked in Prog Magazine's top 100 prog albums and it compelled me to give it a fresh spin.  Beautiful stuff here.  Like someone said earlier, I can see myself listening to, and enjoying, this album decades from now.  It makes me want to close my eyes and just feel the music.

I finally got around to listening to this. Initial impression is that it's boring overall with some nice melodies and other parts mixed in. Not terrible but not great either. Surprised by the praise for Hag since it did absolutely nothing for me. I'll give it another couple of spins but this just isn't my cup of tea at the moment.

I watched a recent YT video of Drag Ropes performed live by SW.  Although I'm not too fond of the studio version, the live rendition sounded pretty good.

This album just transcends all of your opinions. *sticks nose in air, farts in general direction, sips tea*

 :P

Shit, I'm surprised as many people liked this as they did. But this is at times my favorite music. Hag still gives me dem bumps of geese. Ljudet Innan is still one of the most gorgeous things ever. I'm just a stickler for really gorgeous, minimalistic, quiet ambiance that still packs an emotional punch with a side of ephemeral dread. Pretty god damn niche, but I love it so much.

Pretty much. I don't LOVE every track but I love the vibe of the album. And yeah, Ljudet is gorgeous indeed.

It's a great album. Better than the last two Opeth albums and the last two SW albums IMO. But not as good as the best MÅ or SW has done.

I love this album, and baring Damnation and a few SW / PT records, this is my favourite thing Mikael or Steven has ever done. And I'm usually not into this kind of music too.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Listened to this a few times the other day. Still very cool.

Probably my favorite release from either one of those guys.

I really want these two to do another album together.

This record might be my favorite of the decade thus far.

From SW today:

It’s exactly 10 years today since Storm Corrosion - my collaboration with Mikael Åkerfeldt - was originally released, still one of my favourites, a strange-beautiful spiritual experience of an album.  Look out later this year for an anniversary edition featuring a brand new Dolby Atmos mix, a live version of 'Drag Ropes’ recorded at the Royal Albert Hall in 2015, and other bonus material. More details soon...

Oh, hell yes (to the bolded).  :hat :hat

Good thing you said this today because then it wouldn't be factual tomorrow.  :lol

Has it *really* been ten years? I almost forgot it's been that long. I kind of wished they continued their partnership and released more. I might check out this anniversary edition, but I cannot even recall the last time I spun the original release, so I'm not sure if I'm invested enough in the project/album to warrant buying it again, especially since I don't have a sound system worthy of enough of a Dolby Atmos mix.

Storm Corrosion was ten years ago?! Why does my brain keep thinking it was a 2015 project?

I remember continuously putting off buying this one, keeping it on my "for later" list. And now here comes a 10th Anniversary edition to check out.  :lol

I love this album and did see Steven Wilson tweet that out. I'm excited about that live version as I'd wonder how they'd interpret it live.

The album is one of my comfort listens, it's so chill and the vibe always puts me at ease. I love the bluray audio of it already and might now look to invest in a Dolby Atmos system if that's feasible.
