Music your parents got you into?

What are the bands that your parents got you into?

For me, it was the following:
Aerosmith - This is/was my parent's favorite band, so I heard a lot of it when I was growing up. It wasn't until 2002/03 that I began listening to it on my own though (and thus starting my obsession with music)
Queen - My dad had the Greatest Hits album... again it was something I heard a lot growing up. I became a diehard fan once I bought the "A Night At The Opera" and "Queen II" albums though.
Elton John - My mom got me into Elton by showing me Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Billy Joel - I actually bought my dad a pack of 3 Billy Joel CDs for his birthday or Christmas one year. I think I listened to them more than he did, because right now the CDs are in my car.  :lol

So mainly, my parents got me started in my classic rock roots. Those 4 bands/artists above would all make my top 10.

And, while it is the opposite of the topic title, I recently got my mom into Porcupine Tree.  :biggrin: My dad is kind of stubborn when it comes to music and refuses to enjoy anything he didn't grow up with though. :p

My Dad got me into Guns N Roses, who in turn got me into rock and heavy metal as a whole.

I really wish my dad liked PT. I gave him a sample CD but he doesn't seem to like it too much. He likes Rush, PF, and Led Zeppelin though.

Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Queen and Rush were all bands that my Dad showed me.

Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Transatlantic and The Flower Kings were all bands I showed my Dad.

My parents like some artists I listen to, but I didn't get into those artists through my parents playing them. So nothing, really.

My mom got me into Dream Theater, and my dad got me into music in general by having on different radio stations in the car and telling me about all the different bands he listens to.

My dad listens to Black Sabbath, Metallica, Helloween, and some other metal bands. He also listens to bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zep. I recently tried getting him into DT, and he listens to them from time to time.

Edit: Queen and Guns N Roses too.

My dad got me into AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. My mom wasn't much of a music buff and got me into a little pop and rap as a youngster. I eventually chose rock and metal as my music choice.

It's actually the other way around for me. I discovered all of my music on my own and I'm now turning my mom into a huge DT and PT fan.
