I never heard of the guy, so when I saw a commercial about him on tv a few weeks ago I thought it was some kind of a joke. Just the way his face was painted and he was running around on the stage with his guitar...I just didn't think it was serious, so I just checked him out. He seems like his playing skills are awesome. I just don't know how his songwriting is yet. But I did think this little clip was pretty cool, although some of it sounded exactly like the guitar/keyboard unison in ITNOG.

I've seen the commercials as well.  Appearently he's worked with a bunch of big names, including Halford, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, and David Lee Roth according to his wikipedia page.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_5_(guitarist)

I picked up his latest solo album...its a good shred album...but not great...he plays all styles from pure speed shred to some country finger picking on the album  so its not for everyone

I find his solo stuff to be decent, but nothing spectacular. I did enjoy his work with Manson, though.

Quite frankly an excellent guitar player, his skills are brilliant. I only own his Requiem album, but it's a great listen, lots of excellent melodic lines, shred and great phrasing.

He was also the backup guitarist for Lesbian crooner KD Lang!!
