If i were to have known what the set was in advanced, i still woulda gone... I'm just that dedicated...  Like the Maiden tour set. wasnt the strongest  but i still went...
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Man, watching everyone being sad about their setlist, I feel kinda blessed now that I got to see Hollow Years, Erotomania/Voices, and Metropolis.  We got a pretty great setlist.

1. A Nightmare to Remember
2. Constant Motion
3. Beyond This Life
4. Hollow Years/Keyboard Solo
5. Erotomania
6. Voices
7. The Count of Tuscany
-------
8. Metropolis pt. 1

I think that was it.  SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD

Besides Beyond This Life (EWWWWWWWWWWW) and Constant Motion, it's not bad.

The PN show I went to had a better setlist though, I think

1. ANTR
2. ARoP
3. Hollow Years
4. Erotomania
5. Voices
6. Prophets of War
7. The Count of Tuscany

8. Metropolis

BtL is a decent song, and CM is fun live, I'll give it that.  The fact you got PoW makes my setlist infinitely better.  They could've played You Not Me at my show and it would've been better

Better in the sense that we could have gotten ITNOG. But they started playing it at the show right after this one >:(

Also yeah PoW is the only weak song in that set.

Take out Stream of Consciousness and that's a golden set.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. The Train Of Thought tour is their best. Every damn setlist is awesome.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

What that from the same tour as Score?  I thought that they always concluded with Octaavarium.  It's a shame you didn't get any epics.

I thought that Gigantour limited them to about thirty minutes?  From what I saw, DT only played TGP and PA.

Gigantour was one of James' best!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Both tours were the best in terms of setlists without a doubt, altho I have to say that the 8v tour was right up there! The Philly show just a few days before the Score show is one of my favorites (featuring LtL with an extended jam, PSkies with different Floyd/Metallica excerpts) and several other different tracks.

What does this mean? The Evening With tours were, without a doubt, the best ones DT has done. Will be curious to see if they do Evening With tours without MP - I'd be very surprised if they'd do it on their first tour with their new drummer considering how much material he'd have to learn (altho I realize he'd have the time to practice and learn the songs).
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

They'd better do 'An Evening With...'

After having a 90 minute set and then being an opening act, they need to do longer shows

You're preaching to the choir, tho I wouldn't count on it. We'll probably see 2 hour sets with 1 or 2 opening acts ala the Chaos in Motion tour.

THAT I wouldn't mind.  The 90-minute felt like it just needed two or three more songs to be a complete concert.

I agree that I wouldn't expect Dream Theater to do an Evening With tour right out of the gate in 2011/2012.

But that's exactly why they SHOULD do it.  It would prove that Dream Theater is still the best band in the world, full of surprises, carrying on in full force and it would leave the fans in complete shock and awe.

Let's not kid ourselves.  DT has an enormous challenge ahead of themsevles in this new phase of their career.  But they've always been a band that rises to challenges, performs the impossible and gravitates toward the unexpected.  I hope they continue this tradition.
