I've tried it and it's quite good. Well, as good as a reading experience can be on a phone screen.
Pretty much this. You won't get images on it, but you customize the size of the font and the color of the screen.

Actually, I'm gathering all the info I can. Right now I have to choose either buying a phone (Android) or an e-book reader.

The selection of book is not that broad, you do get pretty much every public domain book there is, but if you're looking for a specific book you might not find it.

But hey, there's a Kindle app for Android now.

You can import books if they're in ePub format as well.

Less than 5 days have passed since the release and I believe a Droid X update is going to be pushed out starting today. They claim a number of interface and performance enhancements; and I didn't even notice any interface or performance issues. Hah!

The only one I've noticed (and it's covered by this update) is that the battery indicator is...non-linear.  It goes from 30% to 5% to shutting down in about five minutes.

Yeah. This update should fix that. I'm eager to get the push notification soon. I can't imagine it getting much better - Froyo is going to kill.

That's something I've noticed in a lot of Android phones, the battery indicator does not truly indicate how much charge you have left. A battery widget app download helps with that.

Ok, so you haven't gotten it yet.  I know that some of the pre-release demos that went out have already received it, but I hadn't yet.  Not sure how these things roll out, so wanted to see if you had.

Rumor has it Froyo is hitting the Incredible in early August (right as my wife should be getting hers), and the X shouldn't be far behind.

Mixzing Player has one.

Somehow, the 2.1 update for the Cliq has been leaked, THE actual Motorola update with it... I've been waiting for the OTA for so long and I'm seriously considering rooting my phone and putting the 2.1 in it!

Question:  Do they make any Android phones without cameras?

Ah okay... I'm going to be in a similar position to the OP in that thread come fall.  Damn.  The annoying thing is, as far as I know the only phones without cameras are cheap and crappy, and I'd like to have a nice phone (a smartphone would be awesome) but I doubt they make any smartphones without cameras on them.

I suppose I can settle for a blackberry, but I would love an android phone.  Blackberries have that tiny little screen, and I'm not a fan of the rolling ball mouse thing.

What's wrong with the phone having a camera? You don't have to use it.

Because where I'll be working, they don't allow any cameras on site, which includes cameras on cellphones.  When I visited the site for my interview, I had to lock my current phone in my car because it has a camera on it.

Get a smartphone with a camera, then buy one of these:

and swap SIM cards at work, so you can make calls/text.

I believe every company uses SIM cards in the US.

No, they do not. The only Verizon phones that have SIM cards are the world phones and the SIMs are only functional when on a GSM network. CDMA networks do not make use of SIMs.

I don't know/remember what the SIM/ESN situation is going to be once Verizon completes their total LTE rollout. At first I do remember reading that LTE was going to be SIM based, but more recent articles have still sqpoken about ESNID so I'm not sure.

Basically, Sprint and Verizon do not use SIMs unless they give you one with a World phone; AT&T and T-Mobile, both being GSM carriers, do use SIMs.

I just rooted my Motorola Droid to Bugless Beast v0.4.  I also flashed a new kernel from Sapphire overclocked to 1 Ghz.  It's super fast! I also installed a new theme that is just awesome.    :D
