Why would you want a phone that runs out of battery every 4 to 6 hours?

The Incredible is the Verizon one.  Otherwise known as Droid Incredible.  What you're thinking of is the new one by Sprint - the EVO 4G phone.  My friend just bought one.  Big screen = really big phone, but still pretty cool.  And yeah the battery does suck on that one - mainly because of the 4G, which you can turn off.

Oh, I was responding to ZGF's post about the long lines at the Sprint store. How's the battery on the Incredible?

Seems fine so far.  I usually charge it overnight though just out of habit.  And if I'm at work and feel like listening to Pandora on it I'll have it plugged in as well.

In some cases though it seems as though the meter itself is a little decieving showing it to be lower than it really is.

:caffeine:

It runs faster than the iPhone version and that's before FroYo is taken into account and FroYo makes non-native code run about 450% faster (due to a just-in-time compiler, which is how they got Flash running so damn well) :caffeine:

N64 emulator coming after that as well :caffeine:

I played with an Incredible at a kiosk today and am very impressed. My boss just got the EVO and I liked it, though it is quiet a large phone. I also found out I can upgrade my phone in a month, even though my New Every Two isn't until the following March. Depending on what news might surface in the mean time, I might be moving to an Incredible in July.

So last night my HTC Eris just about saved my life. I gave a friend a ride home to their dorm which is located in Seattle. When we got there, it occurred to me that I had not a clue where I was. So I opened the google maps app on my phone, punched in the crossroads and my street address, and was able to navigate myself home with ease.

I, in no way, regret getting this phone.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Can it be synced up with BES?  Particularly the Outlook calendar?  I'm due for an upgrade in July, and am considering it, but if the calendar won't sync automatically and in real time, it pretty much rules it out for me.

I sync my Outlook Calendar with Google Calendar using the free sync software.  Its two-way so chagnes on either end is updated on both my phone and on outlook.  It works great.

Any idea if it works with secure systems (i.e. BES)?

Okay now I'm really torn - Verizon has put up the official DroidX page with an announcement coming June 23rd. On one hand, the Incredible is a bit more pocket friendly because of the smaller screen and it has the Sense UI, which is gorgeous. But on the other hand, there is a reported possibility of it having a 720p display, even though prerelease models have had an 854x480 display. If that's true, I might really have to consider the X over the Incredible.

TOO MANY CHOICES!!!!

I read that article, except that the Verizon teaser site claims "720p screen" so it is entirely possible that release models will have a 1280x720 screen. If it does NOT have the HD screen, I will likely still go with the Incredible.

They updated that article (maybe after you read it).

"Update 2: Sure enough, Verizon has changed the ad to read "Captures 720p" instead of "720p screen," so that would basically confirm the 854 x 480 display. A nerd can dream, though! See the revised site after the break."

Ahh, yes thank you. That must have been after I read it. Good catch, and it's still an Incredible for me.

Thanks for pointing that out, now I can rest assured on what model I want.

I don't like the larger size either. The screen would possibly have made the size worth it but since its not going to be any different in resolution, I'd much rather take the more compact phone.

Doesn't the Droid X rune the Sense UI too?

No, the DroidX runs a newer version of MOTOBLUR. It is supposedly less obtrusive as previous iterations, lending to a less official "ninjablur" monicker. I think I still prefer Sense.

As someone who has a phone with MOTOBLUR... I assure you Sense is much better!

Has anyone with a Motorola Droid gotten the 2.2 update yet?  I'm seeing countless places where it's available to download and install to the Droid, but wonder if I should wait for the OTA update.

EDIT:  BTW - Adobe Flash player 10.1 for Android phones is now available, hence my urgency in getting the damned 2.2 update.

Heh, I've had 2.2 for a month by now, with the manual update. It's pretty awesome, and yes, Flash is pretty neat too :D

Could you possibly link me to the site where it tells you how to manually update it? I never got around to it.

Excellent.  I'm not particularly in the know about Android stuff, except to use it, so I will probably wait until the OTA update, so as to not screw it up.

Well, I do development on Android each day these days, so it's second-nature to me to root a phone and put Froyo on it :lol
