Sludge Metal

Please DTF! You are my only hope. I've been listening to Metroid Metal and all it's given me is a sore neck and the desire to get some really more-than-decent instrumental sludge/doom metal stuff. If it exists please lead the way. :metal

Not sure what really constitutes 'sludge' but some bands to check into:

Acid Bath
Baroness
Electric Wizard
High on Fire
Mastodon
Melvins
Cult of Luna
Isis

Like really down tempo heavy rhythmic stuff that's not too melody-driven. But I'll be sure to take those bands into suggestion, except for Mastodon. I have to lay back on the Mastodon. Crack The Skye is taking over my last.fm

The closest thing to sludge metal that I listen to is Mastodon, so I can't help much.

Brehh, I saw Torche with Circa and Coheed and an open mind. I didn't take much away other than they were what they said they were... a Miami band. They seemed to have more ego than number of songs, y'know that sorta thing. I really wanted to like them but it just didn't work out the way we planned  :\
