Portnoy's Tattoos
« on: May 26, 2010, 04:26:52 PM »
https://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/news/Dream-Theaters-Mike-Portnoy-Tattoo-Special-21458.aspx

The follow-up to his 2008 interview with the German metal publication, where Mike explained his first ever tattoo (the Dream Theater majesty symbol in 1988!), why he inked the words "Carpe Diem" into his body and much more, here in part two, we take a look at Portnoy's dog portraits as done by Kat Von D., his killer snake done by Chris Garver, his Tama drums as envisioned by Corey Miller and much more.

Tattoos are metal.  :metal

(But the pictures in the article aren't, since they won't load for me)

It's because you aren't metal.  ;D

He has a lot of very cool tattoos though.

Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Am I the only one who preferred it when he didn't have all the tattoos. I know he has always had a few, but not all of his arms and legs.

Some of those designs are cool though

To be honest, I never understood the point of getting THAT many tattoos, but its his body and if it means something to him, more power to him I guess.

It does look pretty metal, as I said earlier.  :metal

Part II

Quote
HM: How did your connection with AVENGED SEVENFOLD came up?

MP: Well the quick answer is, that The Rev, their drummer that passed away, I was one of his favorite drummers...one of his heroes. So when he passed away, they wanted to continue to make the record in his honour and they figured, letīs ask his drum hero. They asked, if Iīd come in and make the record as he was no longer around. For me, it was an honour, to be asked something like that in such an emotional situation for these guys. So I was honoured to come in and do the job and help bring his vision to life. It was tragic, that he died so young.

HM: What did he die from?

Inappropriate much?
