ITPOE and the opening to 'Swim' by In Flames

Not sure if it's been picked out before, but check out 'Swim' by In Flames, at around the :15 second mark.  It's the 9th song off of Clayman.

Yea, kinda similar. Pretty sure it's not intentional though.

I actually used to think the same thing but I lean toward coincidence on this one.

Yeah, my guitar teacher taught me this teachnique before, its very famous in the metal world. Basically you hold a root note that never changes and you play it all the time and then you keep varying all the others really fast. Its been a long time since i dont play guitar, i was never good at it, so sorry if its a noobish explanation, but i think it explains the situation.

Holy shit I was just listening to "Swim" before I signed on.
Plus, I also noticed the similarity when I first heard Swim. (I heard it years after ITPOE)
Obviously Swim was made first, but I don't think DT tried to copy In Flames on that one.

Sometimes when I am coming up with a melody for a song, I am subconsciously influenced by things I've heard, even if I haven't heard them in years. Perhaps that's the case with this similarity here.

Definitely coincidence.

However, on a related note, Swim is f*cking amazing. Possibly my favourite In Flames song.

9+9=18. 1+8=9. Clayman starts with the same letter that Systematic ends with.

Really? It's fairly obvious, even we all agree it's just by chance, but it's pretty damn in your face.

Timestamp time

0:12-0:20 in Swim sounds like 0:04-0:30 in ITPOE1.
