It's part 1 of 2. My guess is that part 2 will be the forward version...

So Chloe's band (at least 1 of them) is now called Tiny Giant. For quite awhile now actually.

They just released a single titled "Heavy Love" which is excellent.

baby steps, but given the limited output of Jon Courtney with Bullet Height and Chloe Alper's band Tiny Giant, maybe the reunion show in June will motivate them to write new music again.

also they updated their photo on Facebook last week.

That's definitely my favourite, comfortably. But I really dug AVO as well.

Considering their albums went from amazing to great to just decent, I wasn't too upset when they quit cause at the time the decline was a bit disappointing. But since some time has passed I would love new music, especially considering I still hold The Dark Third so close to my heart. And AVO is great too. :)

I saw the gig in Valkenburg. Great to have them back!  :hat
A few remarks:
- Jon wasn't audible for the first 4 songs, so it kinda ruined my fav song "Bright Ambassadors...".  :'( After that, the sound was fine.
- Chloe was very relaxed and smiled a lot. She loved every minute of it, it seemed. Can't remember having seen her so relaxed. And she looked great.  :coolio
- They were told to cut the last song due to time limits, but they did it anyway. And they tore down the place. Full of energy. Most people loved it!
- PRR always used samples, but even more during this set. Personally, I don't like that. If you can't play it live, then leave it... They had 2 keyboards on stage that they only used for the last song.

All in all, a very nice gig. For me the best of the festival (followed closely by Focus - never seen them live before, but it was a joy watching Thijs van Leer - very charismatic).
The Intersphere was a surprisingly good opener. Jolly were very entertaining, as usual. The Flower Kings were better opening for Spock's Beard last year. I left after 1 hour of IQ. After PRR, they were too mellow for me to stay awake. Their song "Road of Bones" is fantastic - couldn't leave before that one.

I just hope that if they are working on new material, that it takes the band towards the Dark Third sound. That was a phenomenal album.

someone posted that they may be working on new music on another forum I'm on, that was more in the style of The Dark Third.

I guess with the lack of activity from Chloe Alper's projects and even Jon Courtney's to an extent, I wouldn't be surprised.

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve reunited PRR. We played our first show in close to 8 years at the recent Midsummer-Prog-Festival in the Netherlands, performing ‘The Dark Third’ in full. The festival & crowd reaction was incredible. We were touched that people had travelled from Canada, Russia, Italy, Spain, UK & many more countries. The tracks are as exciting as ever to play & it's encouraging to see the material still has relevance & connects.

We are working on a new studio album & have signed to Inside Out Music - the album will be out in 2020. The material for the new album returns to a much more progressive sound & by doing the Dark Third in its entirety, it’s nice to remind ourselves of the genesis of PRR.

We look forward to seeing you in 2020.
PRR (Jon Courtney & Chloë Alper) xx

I absolutely loved The Dark Third but man, the two albums they released after TDT sucked very bad. Totally different bands.

The Bullet Height release was pretty good though.

Some of the best news in music this year. The following albums are quite different, but I wouldn't say they sucked. I enjoy spinning those.

I'll be curious to check it out though I have no idea what to expect. Their debut is one of the best prog albums of the modern era and I still really enjoy the second album (though not on the same level) but with the third album it felt very clear that what started out as a really special band had become a pretty average band by the end of their run. Now with a new album this many years later it could honestly go either way. Either it's a follow-up to their last album which I only thought was OK and goes that route, OR maybe it's a new start and maybe they went back to what worked so well on the debut.

We'll see. :)

Cool! Nekov introduced me to this group in my second roulette. I like them!
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

you may be correct, but the belief is they were intending to revive The Dark Third style. Although it is only Chloe and Jon Courtney. Who else played on this album? like the drums, etc I guess we'll find out.

here's another article I just noticed
https://www.loudersound.com/news/pure-reason-revolution-return-with-their-first-album-in-10-years

Quote
The duo say in a statement: “We stuck to our manifesto of no musical boundaries and the result was Eupnea.

“We return to a more progressive sound with ferocious guitars, thunderous drums and the stacked harmonies that give us our signature sound. We're excited to begin playing it live.”

agreed. Very TDT-like.

Silent Genesis has a bit of a Aeropause element in the 1st few minutes.

Preorders are also up btw

I heard some things that reminded me of TDT, that Aeropause vibe was one of them, but I also heard some new things which I found exciting and refreshing. I'm hoping the rest of the album keeps up with this.

new interview with Jon Courtney

He mentions how original guitarist Greg Jong plays on Eupnea!

New single

The rhythm guitar on this track at points almost sounds like Mew tune "Apocalypso"

The new song is quite interesting. It has some elements of the later albums but it doesn't go full on on that style. They also seem to be exploring some new avenues with this one. I liked that for maybe a minute or two, the song is able to keep me on edge, waiting for something massive to happen. And even though it doesn't, I don't feel disappointed. This should be a great album.
