Karnivool sounds like a better version of Tool, then Tool themselves. :neverusethis:

Should listen to Lateralus again, that album is seriously awesome when you listen to it in headphones.
Parabol>Parabola is brilliant. (like all of the album)

Best album ever imo.

Well, this is definitely not a complete list so I wouldn't worry about it... unless they don't usually come to WA.
Judging by the dates here I would probably have to catch them on the east coast anyway, and I know they'll play NYC so I should be good unless they're there when I'm in NOLA which seems unlikely. So yay. I haven't seen Tool since high school when they toured with Fantomas.

I fail to see how a band as big as Tool can do a United States tour without hitting New York or somewhere in the surrounding area. Last time through on a headlining tour they played New Jersey and maybe one other date around here... but there were local dates nonetheless. They'll probably release east coast dates in a separate group, like Megadeth, and I think Iron Maiden did.

I just hope the dates won't interfere with my other two August concerts and/or my vacation at the end of July to the beginning of August. Tool seems to me like a band that would be amazing live. Between the pure skill and talent, to how much I like the music, to the amazing show they will put on, I must see them.

I'd try like hell to score tickets to both shows if I were you.  They'll sell out so you can resell one pair pretty easily and maybe turn a bit of a profit.  More importantly, you'll want two shots at getting close up seats.  As I've said in other threads, beyond about 20 rows or so, you see over the top of the stage and it's not quite the same.  I can only imagine that with Tool's traditional staging, it'd be even more problematic since you need to be able to see the back of the stage.  I'd still go even if I had last row, but to be able to appreciate all of it, you really need to be pretty close to the stage.

I don't really have the time right now to worry about selling tickets (not to mention money  :() so I'll probably just buy one... as for up close, I'll see what I can do but am really trying to not spend a lot of money.

Well, they sold out in 14 minutes and I missed it. And I am so annoyed at how many overpriced postings there are on eBay and Craigslist. No offense Barto, but shit like what you suggested to me is the reason these things sell out so quickly, and then people like me who really want to go but can't afford to pay (or don't want to pay because it's FUCKING RIDICULOUS) $100 for one seat in the back row get totally screwed :(

Nonsense.  There's a big difference between professional scalpers and people whop buy tickets for themselves they might not use.  I've sold tickets for face value (as one fellow DTFer can vouch for), and I've bought tickets for face value .  The people you have a problem with are probably only 10 or so who buy up half of any big name concert, and the bastards at TM who allow them to do so.  I'm not real fond of them either.

Sorry you didn't get seats, BTW.  I had the exact same problem here when they played MacFarlan about 5 years ago.  If I could have gotten nosebleed for $100, I would have been all over it.

Yeah, but NONE of these people are selling tickets at face value. There are 138 results for this show on eBay right now. Three of them start the bidding at $0.99 but someone can buy it now for $100+ at any time. One ticket is at $61 with two days left. Everything after that is over $100. Same on Craigslist- everyone is asking for $100+ per ticket. So I have no idea where these "fans" who just bought an extra ticket or two are, but I cannot justify spending that much money on this.
Man, I wish this was Jersey or another state where they actually have laws against jacking up prices too much.

At this point, I'd suggest approaching it from a different direction.  There are at least 10 pairs of tickets with BIN prices between $200-$225, many of them are great seats.  I see a pair of row 17s going for $219+free shipping.  A few weeks before the show, you'd probably be able to sell the second one for at least $150, making the first considerably less than face value.

I'll also point out that looking at the original prices, the cheapest you would have gotten nosebleed seats from TM for is about $70, so we're really not talking about a huge markup here.  After factoring in the service charges, some of these seats are looking like real bargains.  Don't get me wrong, I'm very sympathetic to your cause, I'll probably not see this show at all because of funding issues, but the secondary market for this one is actually looking much better than most other concerts I've seen.

Well, the cheapest tickets were $50. With Ticketmaster charges that would've been $63 ($10+$3 per ticket in charges according to my CSN receipt). Those are going for $100 or more. That's a big markup to me.
Do I have $100? Yeah. Do I want to spend forty extra bucks on a seat in row 65? No.
Also, do I really want to support this "business" by buying a ticket from someone who has jacked up the price?
I dunno. This just pisses me off. I guess $110 is okay for a row 17 seat, but don't think it's worth it.

Assuming that you would have spent the $85-90 on that row 17 seat if you'd gotten it from TM.  The markup on the eBay one really is pretty reasonable.

Eh, but I probably wouldn't have spent that much on it in the first place. $85 is a lot (that's what it would have been since that seat would be $70), and that's $30 more. Reasonable? I'm not so sure. To me there's nothing reasonable about me having to pay $30 extra because a bunch of assholes bought up all of the extra tickets to make a profit at others' expense. I know $30 doesn't seem like much, but that's a trip to the damn grocery store right there.

Certainly understandable.  Again, I'm sympathetic to your cause.  Part of the problem is that while TM at one point sold that $85 17th row seat, they wouldn't have sold it to you.  I've been consistantly shut out by TM the last 4 or 5 times I've tried to get decent tickets.  Now they're charging extra for bogus presales that don't really get you anything better.  I'm not crazy about the scalpers, but at this point, just like the 33% fuck-you-charges, it's just part of the game.  You've just got to learn to play it, sadly.
