Arcade Fire Thread
« on: April 02, 2010, 07:37:39 PM »
Just got into these guys recently.  They're really good.  Neon Bible is my favorite album, not sure what my favorite song is, but its definitely between "Black Mirror," "Rebellion(Lies)," and "My Body is a Cage."

Any other fans here?

I dig em a lot. Wake Up is probably my favorite, the live version with David Bowie is awesome.

I also prefer Neon Bible, but both are damn fine.

I wish these guys were more active. Need more albums and tours from them.

Now this is a thread I dig! :D

I've been into this band for, oh, about two years or so now, I think.  I went nuts over them when I first discovered them, and still listen to them quite a bit.  I prefer Funeral over Neon Bible, as the former is consistently great, while the latter has a few throwaway songs, but both are very worthy.  "Intervention" and "Rebellion (Lies)" are definitely my two favorite songs of theirs. :)

I listened to Neon Bible again earlier today and didn't really hear any of those "throwaway" tracks.  Maybe, MAYBE Antichrist Television Blues, but everything else is great.

I am not overly fond of either "My Body is a Cage" or "Neon Bible."  Neither are bad, but I don't go out of my way to listen to either.  I do, however, almost always skip "Black Wave/Bad Vibrations," which I think is not good at all.

:omg:

I can understand "Black Wave/Bad Vibrations" though.  It took a bit for that to grow on me.

I think the thing is, my favorite Arcade Fire songs are all so awesome, that they dominate my time when I listen to them, so the lesser ones, most of which are good, go by the wayside most of the time.  Except for BW/BV, I like every song on both studio albums.

I prefer funeral, although both are very good albums. They're headlining a major festival in the UK this year so its posssible theyre going to get a whole lot bigger when their 3rd album comes out this year.

New album is out tomorrow (in uk). I've only heard the suburbs, which is a pretty good single, plus the album's been getting great reviews. Think these guys are going to get alot bigger pretty soon  :tup

I have already acquired the album, and it's top class. Better than Neon Bible for sure, probably doesn't quite reach the heights of Funeral, but then again, not many albums do.

Beware though, it's most certainly a grower.

I saw them live a few weeks ago and was instantly hooked.
Really amazing.

I prefer funeral though.

Well funeral was one of the top albums of the decade for me, so thats not so much of a problem. Promising if it's better than Neon Bible though.

I acquired the new album yesterday.  Only listened though once, but nothing really grabbed me.  Will be listening to more in the next week.

Listening again.  I really like it, which is weird considering I didn't hear anything really special last time.  Still not hearing a really magical track yet (except maybe for Sprawl II), but I think its better than Funeral.

After one listen, sounds pretty tasty.  With so many songs, it will take some time to sort through them to figure out the best ones, but as a whole, I liked it quite a bit. :)

The booklet it came in sucks ass, though.  Gah, why can't all bands just go back to jewel cases. :censored

These guys are on the top of my list of artists to explore alongside Ryan Adams, No-Man, Frank Sinatra, Simon & Garfunkel and U2.

Got into Ryan Adams recently, pretty good actually..

Listened to the album a couple of times, hard to judge yet but seems pretty good. For me the title track and sprawl II stick out at the moment but i'm sure that'll change soon.

I just listened to that setlist as an iTunes playlist... :hefdaddy  Not too big on "Rococo" though.

Watching the live stream now :tup

EDIT: "I know there's always that person in front of you who's like 'please don't dance, I'm trying to watch a show.'  Just say 'Hey, nice to meet you, and I respect your opinion, but I'm trying to be at a fucking rock show.'"
