Yeah. Well, for the most part, Lat, you're right. It is cartoonish, and it's sometimes hard to sit through the first little while of Brotherhood if you've watched the original (since it's all material that you already know) and you're right, they do try and cartoonify it for some reason (probably to keep the fans of the original slightly amused so that they're not falling asleep.) But, like Faemir said, trust us, and keep watching. I promise you won't regret it, or your money back.  ;)

Yeah, I was rewatching the first episode of Brotherhood with my brother, and dear GOD it was painful. So cartoony, like you said. Later on it gets...way more serious. Mustang is so fucking GAR in Brotherhood.

And I reiterate: Watch Durarara!! you bastards.

Hmm, which complete box set should I get first?

Trigun
Cowboy Bebop
Wolf's Rain

I really love all of them, and I will end up getting them all. But which first...?

Cowboy Bebop.
In high school my buddies and I built a Van Der Graaf generator.  You know, to get girls.

I suggest getting the box set of the show you've seen least recently. That way you can sit down and watch it all again while you wait for more money.

I'm looking for something that has the same kind of dark gothicy vibe Ergo Proxy has early on in the series, preferrably sci-fi or horror. I don't really know how else to describe it though, I've been looking but can't really find anything. Any suggestions?

This show is crazy and I have no idea where the plot is going at all, let alone the anime genre :lol

It all starts to come together a little later on, you get an episode from each major character's perspective, then things will start falling into place.

Everything starts really coming together in like episode 12 I think? It's the same episode with a cameo from a certain couple from another anime based on a book written by the same person  ;)

Alright just started Wolf's Rain, I'm like three episodes in, and loving it so far. I keep pausing it too to look up the voice actors because practically half the cast was in Witch Hunter Robin  :lol. I'm gonna do Blue Submarine No. 6 after WR.

I started watching Bakemonogatari. I really hope someone gets episode 13 and 14 subbed before I get there, and that 15 comes out short after that. Unfortunately as far as I can tell all the groups doing it are slooooooooow. The only reasonably fast group doing it was gg and they pretty much died.

Anyways.

What the fuck is with this show?

Well as long as it makes a bit more sense than FLCL I think I'll be OK. I still don't understand FLCL but I like it a lot.

Hows Durarara!! coming along? Still watching it?

While it isn't the normal definition of anime (this is an animated comic), has anyone seen any of the Broken Saints series? Its fantastic, although I was a bit thrown off by the ending

I was digging through my old games when I found those .Hack games I use to play. The gameplay was really nothing to write home about, but the concept was pretty interesting and the story ended up being gripping in that "what the fuck is going on?" way. I remember there being an anime series and was wondering if anyone here had any opinions on it.

Is the series worth the $30 or so it's going on ebay? Getting this would delay me getting Devin Townsend's Addicted and Ki.

Well I've been checking out Yu-Gi-Oh! Season Zero today, mostly out of curiosity since I remember when I was younger the YGO manga was substantially more badass than the card games on Kids WB.  The anime really cuts down on the violence, but there are enough cool things going on to at least watch the rest, I guess.  I do like how people actually have some brains and realize that there's some crazy dude living inside Yugi's body instead of conveniently ignoring the voice/height change.  Now if only Yugi didn't sound like Pikachu...

@ehra: Do not delay yourself from getting Addicted.  Do it nao.  Japanamation can wait.

Just watched Neon Genesis Evangelion again and...
 :hefdaddy
I imagined the story to go more like this.

I was sitting a traffic light blaring Space Dye Vest and next to me in another car was Kevin Moore. And I'll never be open again.

I've now seen all the episodes of Bakemonogatari that were aired on TV, but it doesn't seem like any subbing groups have done 13 and 14 yet. I guess I should just wait for the DVD releases to catch up? :/
