Yes. Yesyesyes.

Deathnote is certainly not the best anime ever, but it's absolutely better than all those perpetually running Shonen anime (ie Bleach, One Piece, Naruto). The first half is certainly better, and I would almost say to stop watching after a certain event, but the ending makes it all worthwhile. L is a great character, and Light is pretty awesome too. I don't know if you've seen Code Geass, but imagine Code Geass without mechs. It's all about mind games and long complicated Xanatos Gambits, etc. It's pretty damn awesome.

I watched Deathnote a while ago, and thought it was one of the most mature, dark and thought provoking series ever. Well done all around.
If you like stuff like that I urge you to watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. It is probably my favorite show ever, and End of Evangelion is my favorite movie. The show is just dripping with psychological style, and has a lot of philosophical influence as well.

There's very little discussion in this thread besides "I watched X" "X is good" "Should I watch Y?"

For that reason!

Talk about anime related stuff you appreciate!

I appreciate Tsundere and Zettai Ryouiki!

For this reason I appreciate Tohsaka Rin!

Fuck yes.

Archer's pretty awesome, too.

I appreciate Steven Blum (the voice actor) as he has the most badass voice I've ever heard.  Spike Spiegel FTW.

I also appreciate Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood for being so damn good.

bump!

So continuing with my fail I got Cowboy Bebop, haven't seen it.

Got half way through Ghost In The Shell.

HOWEVER!

I found a new anime called Darker Than Black which so far is an action/thriller/mystery. And it's really awesome. Really. Awesome.

Oh yah! Love that series. The sequel is kick ass as well. I'm not so sure it lives up to the first season, but it's doing a good job thus far. So many possibilities with the Contractor's powers and whatnot. Many questions left unanswered though, so be sure to pick up the second season when you can if you finish the first.

I've tried watching Ghost in the Shell several time, because I've heard a lot of praise.  Every time, I fell asleep in the middle of it.  One day I'll give it a fair shot, but for now I'm going to check out other things.

Umineko is SO BAD. Why do I continue to watch it? I am 100% sure that the visual novel makes more sense than the anime, just because I played it for about 10 minutes and I've already learned a bunch of stuff that wasn't even mentioned in the anime. They didn't screw up Higurashi to the point of making no fucking sense, so why did it happen to Umineko? What the fuck is wrong with this show?

In other news: I've been watching Clannad and I just finished watching all of the Kara no Kyoukai movies. The fifth and seventh movies were the best by a lot (and the longest). The scene where Lio is like drooling all over Shiki for some reason takes my prize for creepiest thing I've ever seen in an anime. I highly recommend KnK to ANYONE. It's really great, written by Kinoko Nasu if you know who that is, and it's just so friggin awesome.

Also, Faemir: How's F/SN going, if you started it? :p

Haven't been playing it, I got most the way through the prologue but it was so damn slow ¬_¬ I watched quite a bit of Darker Than Black and Cowboy Bebop though which are both awesome.

Man, you need to give it time to get really GAR. Don't think of it as a game so much as a book, if that helps :p

And Cowboy Bebop is quite awesome  :metal

Everyone gives a lot of praise to the movie. Stand Alone Complex never really grabbed me enough to watch the whole series, but it is a decent show to watch every once in a while on adult swim.

Considering buying the Death Note DVD boxsets with some of my Christmas money. I've seen the whole series like 3 times already online, but it really never gets old to me  :metal

Gotta be my favorite anime.

I got a Best BUy gift card for Christmas, so i think I'll buy Last Exile.  I saw this when they showed it on G4Tech TV, and I really liked it.

For anyone who is interested, I wrote a review for The End of Evangelion. It has spoilers in it, but nothing that completely ruins anything.

I'm really in the mood for checking out new anime.

The only two anime series that I ever found to be very good were Cowboy Bebop, which I watch annually, and Yu Yu Hakusho, which was okay.

I find a lot of anime to be pointless repetition. Prove me wrong :)

I think I'm finally ready to watch that Baccano show you keep recommending, Faemir :p
