Watching Gurren Lagann atm, episode 8 is on right now.

Btw, what is FMA brotherhood - a remake of the original series?

Well, the first one was, after a certain amount of episodes, all filler not pertaining to the manga storyline whatsoever. This one is strictly adhering to the manga, it's a direct translation from the book to the T.V. screen, and very well done, much more so than the original. So basically the original is now the "fake", if you'd like, and this is the real deal. I'm loving it so far.

The original certainly had it's own merits, though. Namely Cyborg Archer.

:D Yes indeed, I do like the original, and before I knew that they were going to remake it, I loved it. But Brotherhood is on a whole other level of awesomeness. The animation, artwork, witty lines, and such an amazing score. But yes, I agree, the original will always have its place. It's cool seeing the transition in the beginning of Brotherhood having watched the original, but now they're like two completely different anime.

I'm watching Cowboy Bebop for the first time since it premiered in the U.S. back in 2000.

I remember catching it on Adult Swim when I was 9 years old, and seeing a lot of potential in the first episode. This is bringing back so many memories. That fight scene outside the restaurant is soooooo badass.

I love everything about the series. The soundtracks are awesome as hell.

I think I'll drop by BestBuy tomorrow and see if they have it on DVD.

The only other anime series I enjoyed was Yu Yu Hakusho. You regulars can tell me if I have good taste :P

I just finished the entire Fullmetal Alchemist series, and I gotta say I was really impressed.

It's mature and serious but fun at the same time.

This. The real storyline is so so so much better. It's so funny watching the episodes in hindsight of the manga being much further ahead :hat

I just bought the complete Cowboy Bebop set at BestBuy...but it says Cowboy Bebop: Remix which makes me feel uncomfortable. It has all the episodes and whatnot, but....

Man, Umineko has been so confusing recently. I assume the novel was better paced and did a better job at explaining what the hell was going on? Also the animation has been awful recently. Sigh.

I hate having the last post before this dies for a while because it makes me feel weird about reviving it :p

I started watching Clannad recently. This show is so damn good, and nothing has even happened yet.

I'm looking for a show like Evangelion that is heavily based on philosophy, and even psychology. I recently watched 2001: A Space Odyssey and this really was another movie that sums up what I am looking for. I want a show that has ideas, and meaning, carried along with a interesting plot.

I'm told Ghost in the Shell has what you're looking for, though I haven't seen it myself. Serial Experiments Lain is also very idea-based.

I don't even know what the hell is going on anymore. They keep introducing new characters and not really explaining who they are, and all the stuff with Ange makes no sense D:

I'd play it but I'm poor and there doesn't seem to be any avenue by which to..."obtain" it.

Speaking of Visual Novels, I finished Fate/Stay Night. That game is SO EPIC. If anyone here hasn't played it, do so! Put the non-ero patch in if you need to, because that's not even the good part of the game. Plaaaaaaay iiiit.

If you do play it make sure you use the Realta Nua patch, it adds some extremely awesome CGs, and the voice patch, because voices make it better :p

I want to watch Death Note, but I'm afraid it's gonna be like all the other popular anime I don't like. Can anyone say/explain if it's better than shows like Bleach, Naruto, ect.

Yes. Yesyesyes.

Deathnote is certainly not the best anime ever, but it's absolutely better than all those perpetually running Shonen anime (ie Bleach, One Piece, Naruto). The first half is certainly better, and I would almost say to stop watching after a certain event, but the ending makes it all worthwhile. L is a great character, and Light is pretty awesome too. I don't know if you've seen Code Geass, but imagine Code Geass without mechs. It's all about mind games and long complicated Xanatos Gambits, etc. It's pretty damn awesome.

I have not seen Code Geass, but I have heard good things about it. You've made a convincing argument for Death Note, now it seems like I got 2 shows I got to see.

I'll second death note, though I read it rather than watched the anime.

I kind of wished only the first half was there, but as you said, the ending is so satisfying

Ugh, I got the Realta Nua patch but it only added some background music, no voices, despite being almost 100mb ¬_¬

I know that netflix will have most of the shows listed on their library, but that does not mean that they come in a day. When I wanted to watch Italian horror films, or some independent titles they had to ship most of them from across the country, and it took a long while. I would prefer not to have to wait a week between each series, but oh well.

Realta Nua adds some cooler CGs to a couple of scenes near the end of the game. The voice patch is something separate.

I thought realta nua was the PS2 version that added voices and removed the ero sections? (for an all ages version)
