Does anyone else here really love A Certain Magical Index (Toaru Majutsu No Index)?

Because I'm so obsessed with it right now it's ridiculous.

I'd heard there was gonna be a movie, but I haden't see this yet.

Now I'm beyond excited.

I also can't wait for Railgun II this year, which is gonna focus more on the sisters arc (aka my favorite arc from Index I)

And here's one about Urusei Yatsura (the last one, actually):

https://hoppedonpop.com/2013/01/31/those-obnoxious-aliens/

On a related note, I just finished the second Urusei Yatsura movie: Beautiful Dreamer. Freaky as hell, like Inception's "WTF" scale was cranked up to 11.

I've been watching Bakemonogatari the past few weeks (taking it slow because the pacing is a bit out of my comfort zone)

This show makes my brain feel weird but I love it.

Do people really not like Haruhi Suzumiya? I mean sure, I never made it through the entire Endless Eight myself, but I loved the rest of the series. Heck, I'm even thinking of taking a stab at the light novels once I'm done with my 9 to 5.

I bought the first three singles dvds (4 episodes each, you know how Bandai likes to release things) back when they first came out but I just couldn't get into it. The main guy is kind of funny, but that's about it. People tell me I would have liked it better if I watched it in broadcast order, not chronological order, but I don't buy that.

I don't either; I liked it just fine in chronological order. Anyway I dunno, it is rather odd as a whole, so I can get not getting into it. Although in the grand scheme of things, pretty normal as anime goes...

Might explain why I can't get into much anime anymore.  :lol Most of the anime in my dvd collection is stuff I've known from Adult Swim/Syfy's old Animondays stuff.

Man, I haven't even broken into that stuff. If you read through the thread you can see I'm mostly a slice-of-life kinda guy, about as ordinary as anime gets. I never really got into Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, etc. About the weirdest I've ever gone is Rosario to Vampire and Senran Kagura, which were both terrible. :lol

Edit: I should also mention the Haruhi movie is about a hundred times better than the series itself.

Cowboy Bebop is pretty far from being 'weird.' It's pretty tame in terms of anime actually. :)

Well, it ain't slice-of-life, that's for sure. :D

But it's also not anywhere near NGE or Ghost In The Shell in terms of weirdness.

Oh boy it's my favorite anime right now. It's so amazing; so emotionally driven, powerful, epic, and downright sexy at times. I love every minute of it. Verily. MMMM!

Thanks for the hint guys, now I'm watching it too and it looks very interesting.

My suggestion for you is to watch Shinsekai Yori. It's an ongoing series with a very good plot (a rare feature).

Seriously though, is it on crunchyroll?  I haven't tried looking for it yet and won't start watching it for a while (probably not until after SAO).

Unless Crunchyroll has been updated within the last few weeks, which would be awesome, they don't have it. I recently stopped my subscription but I've had it for a while and it was one of the shows that I really wanted to be on there but wasn't. It was pretty demanded for too, in the forums and whatnot so it may eventually come.

Well it's not the kinda thing I usually watch so I was skeptical, but now that I've been getting into increasingly loopy Japanese humor, I think I'll give it a go.

I don't think I've ever seen a 100% dead serious anime. Even the really dark stuff has funny bits.

So far (I've watched 21 episodes out of 25 total) Shinsekai Yori is really DEAD SERIOUS. And... I like it.

SE: Lain doesn't have much comedy at all.  Aside from that, even "heavier" animes seem to have a bit of humor in them.
