Nothing much new in the world of manga/anime for me. I've been getting into Deadman Wonderland lately, I'm now caught up in the manga and finished watching Season 1 of the anime. Which I hope gets picked back up sometime in the near future, but I fear for its survival due to the cannon material they've left out, especially regarding a certain woman. Gantz is still number one in my list of favorites, though lately it's been lacking a bit. Ao no Exorcist is pretty cool, nothing jaw-dropping but its entertaining. That's another series that's suffering a little in the anime category, which is really sad because when its cannon material and they're at the top of their game, its one of my favorites.

I'm really enjoying the Deadman Wonderland manga. I'm actually really disappointed with the anime. I thought it was fine until I picked up a few issues of the manga and then I realized how much bettter the manga actually is. Kinda disappointing.

I think that's about it... I've been craving a new manga and/or anime series recently but I'm very picky in what I like when it comes to genres. I really love the more brutal series that focus on character relationships. Obviously Gantz would be one of those series, Battle Royale is also pretty cool but I despise the sequels created; I couldn't get past the first couple chapters. Oh, an older series I got back into is Bokurano. Very touching, very brutal, but it's not just for the sake of being brutal; it paints a very real picture of human relationships between adolescents and their choices.

Rereading all that, it's so jumbled.  :lol Whatevs, stream on conscience. Good song.

PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA. Basically like Evangelion but for magical girls instead of mecha. So fucking good.

Also, as I have said like a million times since it started airing, Mawaru Penguindrum is freaking awesome and any anime fan who is not keeping up with Penguindrum is in the wrong.

Yeah, in all honesty the DM anime is extremely weak in comparison to the manga but I'm so starved for an anime that it'll (or did) suffice. I really liked the tone of the anime despite the companies having to work past this bullshit ban that passed with all their half-assed censoring. It's full of so many contradictions and hypocrisies. But for what it is, I don't think it was bad, but yes it could have and hopefully will be so much more. I'd rather them come back with an OVA series or even a few movies (ala what the new Berserk project is doing) instead of all the censorship.

Hmm.. High praise to say the least, I'll have to check out Mawaru. The premise of Puella sounds interesting, I'm not so much  into mecha, but magical girls? Always. Speaking of magical girls...I need to finish the Railgun series.

I feel that Railgun is a hell of a lot weaker than either season of Index. Like, let's make a spinoff show about a popular character, but remove every element of her that makes her compelling or endearing. A SUREFIRE HIT

But I guess they were right >.>

I haven't seen or know much of Index, I was recommended Railgun by a friend and from what I've seen I liked it a lot. At the very least it caught my eye; I can see it turning into a lackluster and ultimately forgettable show though. I wouldn't call it a 'hit'... but then again there are very few anime that I would personally consider hits.

I meant hit as in popularity  :lol

Index is seriously awesome. Misaka is still in it, though as more of a side-heroine than as the main character. She's still pretty central but she's much more interesting. She's got a pretty major conflict going on (the Sisters, which are never really brought up in Railgun) plus the only charming thing she has about her is the tsundere thing she has going on with Touma.

Oh...oop! Lawlrz. That sounds really interesting, I'll have to check it out before I get back into Railgun. It's been so long I'll have to watch the whole thing again anyway.

Who the hell blocks a trailer?

This is the actual OP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCBxo4GuWbQ

There is some way to watch this show online legally (subtitled) but I'm not sure which site is doing it.

I was going to laugh at you, but then I remembered that I watch a cartoon about magical ponies.

I tried watching an episode today actually. I'm not gonna bag on anyone for being a brony and if it's your thang it's your thang, but it didn't really catch my interest.

I don't care what anyone says: CCS may be childish, it may be girly, but those characters really come off the screen for me. Or maybe CLAMP is just generally good at writing likable characters, because the only other cast I enjoy this much is the one for Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle.

Yeah, I dunno, I was very pleasantly surprised by CCS. Maybe I don't have any other frame of reference, but I loved the characters, all of them. I can't even pick a favorite.

You know what? I think I'm going to check out CCS. I remember being turned off by the terrible dub that aired on Kids WB 10 years ago. Now that I can tolerate subs, I think I'm going to give it a shot.

Just fyi, watching the subs vs. watching the dubs, it's completely different. Absolutely no comparison.

Also the first season feels kinda slow, but the good stuff really catches up with you.

So how about recommendations for the new season:

Fate/Zero
Persona 4
Mirai Nikki
Ben-to
Guilty Crown
Hunter x Hunter

These are what have really impressed me so far. Watch 'em.

Also my recommendation for Mawaru Penguindrum still stands.

Yep. One of my top 5 animes ever. The movie, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, is especially great. The only part of the series that isn't awesome is Endless Eight.  I also own 4 of the books.

*Appears in thread*

Someone said Haruhi Suzumiya. Also, someone recommended Penguindrum. This thread is instantly epic to me.

Also, have people seen Seitokai Yakuindomo and Hanasaku Iroha? I love those two. Oh, and not forgetting Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I love that too (and the original ending theme is epic, also). I really should get the books for Haruhi, I love it a lot.
This is as exciting as superluminal neutrinos. The sexy thing is that this actually exists :D

I've seen Hanasaku Iroha and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, but not the other one. I really enjoy SZS (because Kamiya Hiroshi is awesome), but I felt like Iroha was just sort of okay. Itou Kanae though... :tup.

Oh hey btw, how essential are the light novels and manga to enjoying/understanding the plot/characters of Haruhi Suzuyima?

Not. There are 5 books out in English and only one of the stories hasn't been animated, so you're not missing a lot. However if you're watching it don't watch it in broadcast order, watch it in chronological order.
