You're right, I somehow thought Kiske was on Scarecrow tour. :lol

How often Unisonic toured before Kai joined them in 2011?
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Yup, very few. A couple of small club shows in their infancy. If I recall from the videos posted on the Kiske page, he was even reading lyrics from a sheet of paper.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Yeah, and the band were pretty rough.  Mainly because of the lack of playing together.

Funny how Kiske is so highly thought of. I know how incredibly influential the Keepers albums were ( i just finally listened to Theater of Salvation, and yeah, THAT album has a huge Keepers influence, it's crazy, way more then Mandrake. Tobias is very open about the influence of Edguy ). But it's crazy since those are only 2 albums, you know? and the next two are albums people fucking hate! Still to this day Kiske is worshipped. And he's still an amazing singer.

My copy of Theater of Salvation doesn't sound so great. There are a few albums i'v been listening to lately that i notice have a production sound I think sounds very thin. These are: Edguy's Theater of Salvation, and Helloween's Gambling With The Devil. Anyone else find this to be the case?

I like it.
The woh ohhs are very Maiden. And Toby isn't coasting on the vocal.
A stock metal riff with  a little twist at the end. Yeah, good start.

I like the riffs, the lyrics are very good, but the rest is very meh...
Toby is singing out of his range and the terrible chorus and the woh ohhs kill it for me.

After all the hype I was expecting something a little better  :metal

I like the song. Riff sounds like Avantasia, but that's not a bad thing. Could be a good album.

Wow, this is a good return to form from Tobi.  I really like this, and I'm with Paul, the woah's are awesome and very Maiden.

Oh, and the riff.....Toy Master anyone?

The riff is rather generic - I actually prefer the riff they used moving into the guitar solo - but I do like the song.   It's not what I was expecting from Edguy at all , but I think it sounds promising.

I must say I find that lyric videos detract from the song when most of the lyrics make no sense (and I'm not just talking Edguy) ............perhaps that's just me.     I enjoy the wacky aspect of Edguy but I'd rather not be reading it while listening to the song.

Anyway - count me interested/cautiously impressed.

After my first listen just now, I can say it doesn't come off to me as a really amazing song, that's for sure. But not bad. It's kinda bland. Kinda 'back to the roots', but at the same time it's not... It's not gonna be a back to the roots album, like some have said. But I don't really care though, as long as its really good!

I hate how everyone says they only write hard rock these days. This labeling stuff is really getting out of hand. Why can't stuff just be Metal? Or even just Rock? These days it seems there is a very thin line separating Metal and Rock. I like what Tobi once said about being a fan and growing up listening to Maiden and AC/DC. It's just hard music. If you want, sure some of Edguys stuff could be called Rock, but mostly that stuff is very hard rock. And on those same albums there will be songs that are in the power metal vein, and then there will be mid-tempo songs etc. It just is. It's just metal. I'm surprised people don't get like this with someone like Maiden, when some of their newer stuff is very heavy, what about Journeyman? It's acoustic, people should start saying Iron Maiden does folk now! See what I'm getting at?????.......

Apparently this new album has elements that are more like earlier Edguy like Mandrake. Should be interesting.

I think what we have heard so far, it definitely has the potential to at least be better than the last two.

One listen in and its decent. Better than the last 2 already. I'm not hearing any Mandrake tbh. Avantasia, certainly. Maybe something of a Rocket Ride vibe? Glad its on preorder anyway.

I have not heard the album yet, other then a couple samples. I really don't think it will be Mandrake Pt. 2 (definitely not ToS Pt. 2), and probably not Hellfire Club Pt. 2. I predict i will likely describe it as a mix of AoJ, Rocket Ride, and some of the harder parts of Hellfire Club. Maybe even a couple songs that have elements of the earlier Euro Power Metal style of their earlier stuff, but with the production and crisp guitar sounds of recent stuff.

BTW i have finally heard Tinnitus Sanctus, and i can totally see why people are disappointed by it. There are a couple songs that are really good, but overall very unexciting IMO. In theory, it should be an album i love, but it just is not.

On that note, from the samples of Space Police i have heard, i am somewhat reminded of Tinnitus Sanctus' darker sound. Anyone else?

Played it throough a few times now and its very good. I don't hear any Mandrake in it. More Rocket Ride and Avantasia really. Tobi's humour is there (I'll let you decide if that's good thing!). Strong melodies, sounds good production-wise. Yeah, I like it.

I'm really enjoying this album.
At the end of Space Police (the song) there's a really dodgy lazer beam-type effect that I thought was just cheesy for the humour factor. Then I was playing a Magnum compo the other day and at the end of Kingdom Of Madness there is exactly the same sound, to the same beat. Nuggetz.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the new album - I agree that there's a definite Avantasia vibe (with Edguy humour) through a fair bit of it and I've always preferred Edguy for the most part.   England is pretty damn funny and the Hysteria ripoff is good - aside from the comedy value there I like maybe half the songs on the rest without considering any to be "classic".

Favourite tracks: Space Police, Sabre and Torch, Do Me Like A Caveman, Love Tyger.

It'll sit mid range for me - well below Mandrake and Rocket Ride on my ratings.
